    1.75x1/8 tubing bent at a 90 with a 5.5 die

Steps the reuse the stock mounts

    1. remove mounts from stock bumper
    2. Cut the length of the 3x5 to match the contour of the body (I think I left 1/8 or 1/4 on each side it was a tight ) check for fit
    3. Cut two huge holes where the bumper mounts will sit, you will be cutting the the back and bottom off for access, make sure each peice you cut out is one big L shape.

    4. Set the 3x5 on the mounts checking for depth, there will be a big gap between the back of the 3x5 and your body
    5. Trim stock mount to correct depth fit
    6. Adjust height (don't forget the tail gate clearance
    6. Once you get desired fitment tack the mounts to the 3x5
    7. Remove "bumper"
    8. Weld mount to 3x5 on the interior side
    9. Cut out 3/16 or desire thickness for reinforcement
    10. Shape reinenforcement to fit the stock mount
    11. Tack in place to mount/3x5
    12. Weld reinforcement to mount/3x5
    13. Cut a hole in the L shape you already cut out(hole is meant for mount/reinforcement to slide through
    14. Tack L shape back to 3x5
    15. Weld and blend L to 3x5

I think this is making sense. You’re cutting out a big piece of the main tube to tuck in a shaped piece of tube, then plugging up the hole again.

Nice job brother man. Front bumper looks bad ass too!

Finally got to do the pinch weld mod. It's nice you get some turning radius back.

Got a light squeaking, sounds like sheet metal rubbing against metal coming from my rear, when coasting at low speed. I'm thinking drums are the culprit, adjusted ebrake, I was barely at 12 clicks now back at 15.

Checked out the drums today, isolated the problem. Shoes rubbed slightly on the drum. Backed of the shoes with the adjuster confirm the clean rotation. Painted drums, dust cap cleaned things up. .
Drums In great condition, I was surprised how clean it was in there.

Only problem is the squeak is still there, yes, the drums are self adjusting. I've looked at a couple of posts about this issue and most it just goes away. So I'm guna wait a bit, if not I'll replace everything till it goes away.

Solved the squeaking issue, checked out the drums one more time and found the backing plates were dry, added some lube and squeak is gone.

Been thinking about swing out design. It's guna be tricky with the bumper designed so closed to the tail/body.

I've looked at swing out spindles and not a fan of the price tag so I'll just fab something up.

After the lift I've been watching my cv's closely, and driverside finally tore yesterday, throwing grease everywhere

    IMG_1221.jpg

Plan on replacing both cv's with some aftermarket ones and rebuilding the oem's with the boot slide mod.

Went to Frank Raines this past weekend and had a blast. I need to start taking more photos/ figure out how to take better pics.

Overall all the suspension worked great, so many hills.

Got rid of the frame posts, closed up the hole on the mount bracket. Just need to add some recovery points

Thought about doing that, just keep in mind the hinge/spindle needs to be below the top of the tubing to clear the tailgate, if your using the same design.

I looked into a bunch of spindles and most don't fit for the application. Could keep it simple and use dom bushings.

To give you a rough estimate, around $200 I also reused my stock mount, can't remember the exact price of the 3x5 and all other material was bought in bulk/leftover.

If your guna swing out, I'd bump the 3x5 rectangular tube up to 3/16's, and used 1/4 for brackets just to cover and worries you might have.

just remember you got to ship the kit as well. It looks cool though. not cutting (with cutting discs) saves you a lot of time and money hahah
