    What's wrong with the factory bumper? I guess I'm having a hard time seeing the need for a steel bumper that doesn't provide more clearance or protect the bedsides. You're adding weight and not gaining any much in the way of function.

    The world is full of billions of people and it's impossible to please all of them. Good to take a nice deep breath, let it go, and carry on with your peace intact and undisturbed. TW is a wonderful website and great resource that I enjoy more than I rue.

    Was barely touched by a car trying to squeeze between me and the car behind me to get into a turn lane. Their car got hung up on stock bumper on driver side. It shattered like a glass Christmas ornament, and so did my tail light. My option is to replace what I perceive to be a useless item or do a minor upgrade that would; at least protect my tail light and rear fender.

    I'll eat crow here. I don't want to see you leave TW, Bro. This is a great community and full of helpful individuals. Even the aggressive opinions and advice, come from a genuine place of trying to help. Keep in mind you're dealing with a varied group here. This isn't the mellinials of reddit, and it's definitely not a safe space. You have everything from old crusty professionals to business suit Sema vendors. You have to take all opinions with a grain of salt.

    Keep posting, reading and learning... and you'll figure this place out. Its definitely an intimidating place to walk into, but there is no substitute for the wisdom contained herein.

    You were more than barely touched from the sounds of it. Just be careful of cheap products masquerading as something they're not. I have no experience with the bumpers you're asking about so I'm not claiming they are, but it's easy to think you've upgraded something when you've actually increased the potential for more damage the next time it happens (see anyone with a body mounted running board that thinks they work like rock sliders)

    There are a lot of people here mounting 33's on stock trucks, I'm not sure if wisdom is the correct word. ;)

    Wisdom =/= good idea.

    Wisdom tells you the consequences of an action. What you choose to do with that wisdom is a separate conversation.

    Honest truth is that I was at a full stop and a golf cart (one of those street legal ones that can fit 6 passengers) going approximately 2 mph caused what a body shop estimated to be $2700 worth of damage.

    I disagree..I believe that it is added protection. Obviously not looking to 4x4 with my 4cyl 2wd...besides added protection, it provides 2 additional recovery points for when my 2wd 4cyl gets stuck and you 4x4ers need to pull me out. I should also add that my model doesn't have the rear sensors or BSM that would make staying stock a more appealing option.

    You can't 4x4 a 2wd unless you do heavy extensive modifications. A bumper isn't one of them.

    If it's a good quality yet inexpensive bumper replacement, yes. If it's a cosmetic upgrade that doesn't integrate properly with your trucks frame and existing bumper because they're selling you something for cheap that merely looks like something that costs a lot more, no. That's what I'm recommending you be careful of. Cheap doesn't mean poorly built, but it can.
