The Beatles- the most overrated band of all time

Most of the stuff being produced today is imho crap, but so is the stuff you listed. Although opinions are like assholes.

 

Not a huge Beatles fan, but I'll have to say they were a LOT better before they discovered lsd.

Wow what a blast from the past... I didnt say it in my earlier post which seem to be in response to some posts that were deleted (I hope or I was just having conflicting ideas with myself otherwise) but any band that isn't rated dead last couple be argued to be overrated... Its not like its a race or scoring competition where there is a concrete "winner" just like all the people that choose to eat white cake, everyone with taste buds know its just loaf bread with frosting, but millions are made and eaten every year... I'm not sure where I was going with that, because the Beatles are for sure not the white cake of music... Oh maybe cuz white cake is overrated... Wait... No I'm gonna go with that

 

If you're going to try compare and contrast bands as far being overrated or not, you have to look at what they did to the music genre as a whole. Music is a very subjective and is hard to get people to agree on the same thing. As far as The Beatles are concerned, you can give a teenager a Beatles album and have them listen to it and think it's not very good simply because it's not the type of music that a teenager would typically listen to. Getting back to The Beatles, one thing that is impressive is how successful they were as a band in such a short amount of time. The 60's were a great time for music, largely because of The Beatles and there were plenty of other bands too during that era who were really good as well.
