    It started Friday afternoon. I left work early and got to work on a Czech Dark Lager


    5 Gallons
    Pils water treatment + 2.5g CaCl + 5.2
    trying to work the mouthfeel with the extra Calcium Carbonate, and wonky PH adjustments recently so I
    used some 5.2


    6 lbs Floor Malted Pils
    1 lb CaraMunich
    1 lb Victory
    12 oz Pale Chocolate
    2 oz Carafa Special III
    Mash @152 for 60 minutes
    2 oz Saaz 60:00
    1 oz Saaz 20:00
    WYeast Bohemian 2124
    OG 1044

    and making this Milk Stout recipe I ground about the same time as the Czech Dark Pils, about a month ago.
    Time to get off my ass and make these brews. Still in mid boil with the milk stout. I'm gonna toss a vanilla bean in it also.



    The recipe is based on the local guy that got gold in NHC last year.. I wasnt getting shit in competition, so I will use his recipe as a base and see what happens.


    7.5 lbs 2 row
    3 lbs Crystal 65
    3 lbs Caramunich
    1 lb 1 oz Belgian Chocolate
    12 oz Roasted barley
    12 oz flaked oats
    12 oz quick steel cut oats
    6 oz flaked barley

    mash @156 60 minutes

    .5 oz Columbus 14.5% 60:00
    .5 oz EKG 6.1% 20:00
    1 lb lactose 20:00
    whirlfloc, yeast food 20:00
    .5 oz EKG 6.1% 0:00
    1 vanilla bean

    OG 1083
    Wyeast London Ale (1028)


    The bastard stuck on me. Too much oats without rice hulls.
    Oops, better remember that for next time.

    And a bit higher OG than I expected but thats OK.
