We are entering my favorite beer drinking time of year!

This was our second or third round today. The wife picked a Tennessee Temptress (she liked the name) which was a new offering them. From their description:
Starting with a base of our popular Temptress imperial milk stout, we aged the beer in the barrels for six months, then re-fermented on over 500 pounds of sweet cherry purée to bring out a little sweetness and round out the edges. With the vanilla from the barrels and that trademark Jack Daniel’s character.
It was all kinds of good. I'm drinking the lighter stuff.

 

That sounds so damn good.

Well if you make on base/post in Qatar you can have your three drinks every 18 hours. If you make to to UAE or Jordan of course any goes. Just watch out for those special ladies they bring in from Europe.

 

I'm State Department and can drink when at most Embassies. Currently in Baghdad and there is beer but a very limited selection and some of the outer lying sites tho are dry... Right now my beer choices are Heineken (literally probably my least favorite beer ever), Stella (not bad), Amstel (ok), Guinness (good) and Sol (close to Heineken, IMO). My pallet for beer is extensive and there will never be a choice of IPAs, Pale Ales, Stouts or Porters here. I am happy to be able to have beer though because I do remember the days of being over here that I couldn't...

HAHAHA... lots of those special ladies you speak of! Can't even enjoy a beer in peace in some spots they are so bad!

 

Mason's Brewing hipster apocalypse. I've never heard of Idaho 7 Hops but it's pretty good. Nice and piney

 

Portland has a ton of good breweries. Lone Pine and Mast Landing have grown a lot lately and put out some really good stuff. Liquid Riot is my go-to spot to end the night.

I am looking forward to Maine Beer Co, Austin Street, Foundation, Mast Landing, Bissell Brothers, Liquid Riot, Lone Pine and Oxbow! I am sure we will hit up several others but those are on my list of don't miss!

Thats pretty much my list of favorite breweries. If you go to Austin St and Foundation, Allagash is right next door. If you go to Oxbow, Maine Mead Works and Rising Tide are both within stumbling distance.

The Maine Brew Bus is a little pricey but they shuttle you to a bunch of different spots

 

We planned on hitting Allagash because it is right there but it's not high on the list... And we thought about the Brew Bus but we are staying in DT within walking distance to a few places and figured Uber would be our best bet. We won't have a car anyway but for one day to go cruise inland and play golf.
