It might be worth noting that for restaurants in Lake Placid, we go to Smoke Signals, Big Slide Brewery, Lisa G's, and Lake Placid Brew Pub, in that order. Smoke Signals' beer list is small, but they always have at least a couple good options. Lisa G's is similar with more can/bottle options.

Pour Man's Taphouse in Wilmington has a good draft/can/bottle selection. I think burgers are the best food option there.

We don't eat in Saranac Lake too often. Our friends that live there like Bitters and Bones. The food at Blue Line Brewery is decent.

Is it Fall yet?!?! I’m ready for some cooler weather to go with these stouts!

Hi-Wire Horchata 10W-40 Stout w/ Vanilla, almonds, cinnamon, lactose, and chocolate. Hi-Wire does a coffee chocolate 10W-40 that is really good, so I had pretty high expectations. This is good, but I was hoping for a little more cinnamon/horchata flavor.

Rogue’s Shakespeare Stout nitro infused draft at the brewery on the bay in Newport. Tasty stuff.

Had a decent American Pale Ale in the “oilcan” from Icicle Brewery in Leavenworth, WA on my way through there. Nice beer and nice town to drink it in.

Prepare now, friends of beer.

Beer lovers unite! Grab an ice-cold beer (or two) and get ready to celebrate National Drink Beer Day on September 28. With the craft beer scene more popular than ever, there are a wide variety of beers guaranteed to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Maybe you’re a fan of IPAs and hoppy brews or maybe you prefer a dark stout. Whatever your preference is, there are so many options for you. And while it may seem like a bad idea to have an entire day dedicated to something that can potentially cause a lot of harm, know that in moderation, beer can also be good for you! Beer contains antioxidants, can lower risk of heart attacks, decrease risk of diabetes in women, and can be good for your bones (again, in moderation). So crack open a cold one, drink responsibly, and enjoy your day! Cheers!

Cooler weather for stouts? Why? ;-)
Pay no mind to me; I'm the guy that will crack open (and find very refreshing) something like a Bell's Expedition Stout on a mid August day, 98 degrees 90% humidity.
