I only want to make 5g batches. I'm going to buy 4 5gal ball lock kegs. I think this system is perfect for my needs. They also have a 120v control box. I want the 240v, it's faster. They have some ytube vids showing the process. I not sure what the highest ABV they have made but it's not limited gravity.

You may just have to thicken your mash to make it work on higher gravity/ABV stuff. It can only hold so much. I made a 1.1 SG beer and it took 11 gallons of volume with grains and liquor. You can make it work on big beers like that by adding some extract to make up for it, or just make the mash thicker like I said.

I appreciate all the info,I'm just getting started. I don't know that much about the whole process. I do know I want to start with 5g batches so I can keg them. I looked into bottling but I think it's just better to keg. The whole carbonation process is easier Kegging.

@christyle do you think the high gravity is better than the clawhammer system ?

I viewed some high gravity vids. I'm just going to stick with the clawhammer system they are localish. I like to support local business. They also turned me on to a very close grain supply so I'm happy. I think everyone should try to brew beer. It's so much cheaper than buying at a store. With a BIAB system you can pretty much brew anywhere. I'm not sponsored by anyone, I just think you should try to brew you own beer. Just find the system that work best for your needs.

I have done pretty much no research, just observing. You mentioned 5 g batches and that sounds about right for me. How much could one expect to pay for a system at a novice level or better?
There will be flops, I’m sure, but I need to start somewhere.
Will probably start with a wheat beer. Too early for beer? :burp:

taste test: eh.....the stout is very good alone. The Founders added to it gives it a bit too much "back of the tongue" bitter. Was worth a try.

Sorry, that’s what I know the beer/liquor store as... and it’s roots as to why it’s called a package store.
