The Beer Nerd - what are you drinking / brewing thread

I’m not a big drinker. I do however find this particularly fantastic.

 

That beer was amazing!! Had a friend from Atl bring that up to a share we had a week or so ago and it blew my mind.

Been busy moving in to a new house the last few days, but I managed to sneak one of these in last night. Very tasty, but still light enough to enjoy in the summer time.

 

3 Floyds Zombie Dust

 

Victory/Southern Tier Donnybrook Irish dry stout on nitro. Excellent roasty character.

 

And one more. Creme brulee stout. 10% abv. It's a wonderful thing. Partially drank.

 

How's this one? I looks and sounds good.

 

I don’t have much cream ale experience, but to me this is what I would give my friends that only drink macro brews. It’s got more and better flavor than something like a Miller Lite, but it’s not hoppy or bitter.

Just got back from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. That is truly The Great White North, as much as any of us who live south of the 60th would love to brag.

One of the benefits of surviving there, getting through the -36C temperatures (with a 20 km/h north wind off Great Slave Lake), having to dress up like the Michelin man simply to step outside and always having toque-head is that there is one (yes, only ONE) brewery in the entire territory. And they make amazing brews....





And then I tried their Nitro Porter....now, I am Canadian, built with Irish parts, so having an affinity for a darker quaff is no surprise...but this Porter was simply A-MAZ-ING. I love my Guinness, but this one is superior...

Of course, the Cosmos has a way of getting back at beer drinkers who have found something they like....NWT Brewing doesn't bottle or can and nothing is shipped outside of Yellowknife.

And I know from previous experience that Air Canada Jazz won't let me bring a growler.

Sigh.

 

And of course I had to go back a couple nights later.....

A different flight, and more Porter.

Apparently the Porter has some magical properties that stops the cold from seeping into your bones....
