After being in a fraternity for 4 years in college, Natty is one thing I definitely don't miss. And those damn natty splatties. Haha

But I would take his advice ^^^^ about the food, and starting lighter, maybe with some ales and lagers, and then you can expand from there once you start finding what you like and what tastes are good to you. Im sure if you find anything you like and post it up in here, we can probably recommend a handful of others that are similar.

    It's a fun journey!

Yeah, that Terrapin was pretty bad haha. I didn't know a thing going in, but I appreciate the advice. I'll be taking a trip to Charlotte this weekend and someone recommended I drip NoDa Hop Drop 'n Roll, anyone had that before?

My fiancé lives in Charlotte. Lots of good beer around there. Hop drop and roll isn't bad, but I prefer their jam session or Cava. Triple C has some good stuff and Old Meck is pretty awesome. If you get a chance to go to their brewery, they have some great German food.

Charlotte is a pretty cool town, as long as you don't take a wrong turn haha. I've heard of Old Mecklenburg, so I guess I'll take a shot with that this weekend.

Couple more really simple tips: 1) always drink draft beer when possible, it's always better than cans/bottles. 2) most good beers are better closer to room temperature than ice cold. If you have to nearly freeze it to choke it down, just skip it!

Do you know if people under 21 can go in Old Mecklenburg's brewery to take the tour and eat?

Haha I know how that is.. she used to live in the ghetto the first year she was down there. In a much nicer part of town now though.

But yea, Check it out. It's pretty cool. Triple C is only a few miles from there as well and its pretty cool. (fiances apartment is about equidistant between them and its maybe a 5 minute drive either way) I don't think you can do tours there, so it's mainly a bar, but its made onsite so its fresh beer and the people are friendly. When it's warm out on Saturdays they open the back yard into a dog park and a bunch of food trucks pull up and its just like a giant party haha.

I believe so for the tour. Definitely for the restaurant though. It's just a giant room with like 8 100' long picnic tables with a bar along one wall. I haven't been able to do the tour, but we have gone a few times just for the food. If you end up there, definitely get a soft pretzel. Their beer cheese is the tits. haha its a really cool place actually. The Old Meck Copper is my favorite from them.

I didn't like Meck's beer when I ate there. Burger was good though.

    You don't count

:D jk. Their beers aren't amazing, but they're not bad IMO. I like them a lot better than NoDa as far as CLT beers go. I think Triple C's Babymaker is still my favorite Charlotte local though.

This is probably my favorite wheat beer. Hails from North Coast Brewing in CA.

Considering we have the most breweries per capita in the U.S., there is simply more selection and vendors to choose from

Read John palmer's book. How to brew. Then hop to it.

See what I did there?..
