Nice. I choked through one the other day, I'm not impressed haha. Didn't hit the juicy notes like I wanted, because I was lazy and used the hops I had and not much of them, especially for dry hop. Also somehow for the first time ever got really good efficiency and high attenuation, so it was a bit thin and boozy for my liking.

Do you know the % it was? It wasn’t a bad beer still. Like I said pretty thin and light tasting. Good beach beer

A day trip across the border into Shenzhen, Guangdong.....lunch at a unique restaurant, one that serves beef only. Beef hotpot, to be precise.

Two offerings from Tsingtao, neither of which I had tried, and neither are available in Hong Kong or Vancouver

The stout was unremarkable...just a farm beer without a huge favour.

'White' beer is apparently a wheat beer...fresh and crisp, sweet and nutty...amazing. I smuggled a couple cans back....

    And....different cultures, different customs...

Apparently, according to the (really) young security guards staffing the airport style x~ray machine at the entrance to the Shenzhen MTR (subway system) station, tucking my little 2 inch CRKT folder in the bottom of my rucksack under jackets and water bottles and umbreallas constitutes a terror threat.

Carrying it my pocket where it is readily accessible is, apparently, completely okay.

I think it had something to do with my Canadian passport, actually. Someone is probably still pissed about the Huawei incident.

Having studied their government a great deal, I’d be leery being over there period.

You speak Mandarin? All of the mainland born folks I’ve met coast to coast are immediately disarmed when I speak Mandarin with them.

Always found Qingdao beers to be unremarkable as well, but not bad given that it’s German-brewed PRC beer.. I guess

I've been going into China for the past 25 years and never had an issue...I definitely check my ego (today being a case in point, LOL) and never so much as roll my eyes throughout whatever random process is in effect on a given day

And quite frankly, at check points as busy as those into Shenzhen, I'm not important enough...I'm just an old henpecked guy married to a Hong Kong woman:(

I only speak a tiny bit of Mandarin, but I know what ya mean...nobody expects that same old Gwailo to speak Cantonese (it is still the predominant second language in Vancouver )...I get a lot of mileage outa that in Canada and the States.

Replacing everything worn, broken, and rusted.
Blood Brothers staight to ale Belgian style blood orange courtesy of @NoOne Delicious. Strong at 8%, mild head retention, good blood orange flavor. Amber color and malty. Very good beer.
