If you're driving I highly recommend hitting Other Half on your way into town. The brewery isn't open yet so it's just a huge can drop from their NYC facility. They do these drops just about every Fri and Sat and usually sell out.

Not too many local guys can regularly for take home stuff, many will do crowlers for the to-go crowd. The most talked about beer in town is at Mortalis in Avon. About a 20 min ride from your sisters. They do not do beer to go.

Others in the area are Swiftwater- Rochester, Brindle Haus - Spencerport, 3 Heads - Rochester. K2, WhichCraft, and knucklehead are all in webster.

Wegmans and one stop are your best bets for bottle shops.

Rochester is where I get my OH.. buddy from Erie, PA has work near there every few weeks and he stocks up. I meet him halfway down 79 north of Pittsburgh and drive back down very happy. It’s really good stuff.

Some folks here tried telling me they wanted 3-4:1 for a stout using my OH saying it’s just hops. Told them to enjoy their same price stout that didn’t come from 300 miles away.

+1 for Other Half. I’ve had a few from them and it’s all been good.

 

I bet it was the same dude on here who tried charging us like $30 + shipping for a 4 pack of heady or some shit, saying that it’s super hard and inconvenient to get even though he was making the about 1.5 hour trip anyways to get it for himself.

 

This was a local group for some Dancing Gnome stuff. It sells for the same price as their IPAs, it’s just a Thursday release and smaller batch. If you’re up there before 4:30, you’ll get it. They’re acting like the brewery only releases one stout a year and that it costs $40+. Give me a break.

They’re releasing their sour next Thursday. Can’t wait for them to be all ‘give me a fair trade.’ I’d rather pour one down the drain than deal with shits like that.

I’m just mad haha. It’s not supposed to be a secondary market group, but members (and admins) are treating it like one.

 

Ya I hate people like that. Like it’s just fuckin beer, man. I get some stuff has a higher value than others but usually it’s pretty small batch and actually hard to get.

 

Exactly. We’re tentatively going to Ocean Shitty, MD this summer with her parents and I was going to swing by Burley Oak and wait it out for their JREAM series releases (best sours I’ve ever had). Line generally starts at 5am, and tickets go out at 8am for the 11am opening so people aren’t waiting around to find out they’re leaving empty handed.

No way I’m trading any of it in that group now.

 

I hit up Burley Oak when I was there last year for a bachelor party/guy's weekend away. Pretty good stuff.

 

I haven’t had any of their other stuff. They were at a beer festival in Pittsburgh and had 3 sours that were far and away the best ones there. Can’t imagine their other offerings being bad

 

I don't remember which ones I had when I was there... but I do remember that I had a flight, and I got pretty buzzed from it because they were so good, and fairly strong.

 

6 hours of waiting in a line for beer? That’s fucking insane. Ain’t no beer good enough to sit and do nothing for 6 hours.
