I actually had both of those. They were both decent. The stout was a bit thinner than I'd have liked.

Agree. A stout should hang on your tongue. Been eating apricots, since they are in season - so it is on the brain.

Aslin just opened their new location in Alexandria so it's real close to DC now. In DC itself, Bluejacket by the Nats stadium, makes some really good beer and usually has a can selection that's about 6 strong. Some good hazies and some decent sours.

Just west of DC in Loudoun County you have several good breweries with canned selections. Crooked Run, Solace, Ocelot and Adroit Theory are the fan favorites but Vanish also makes some good stuff. Also Commonwealth Brewing down in VA Beach is available at most bottle shops and they are making some great beer... hazies, sours and stouts.

If nothing else, have her go by Aslin because it's close and check out their website of what they are releasing and what's available and then grab a 4 pack of Solace and Commonwealth bc you can get them outside of the breweries in a bottle shop.

I have done some decent research on these as manual hydrometer readings are impractical on the small batches I brew. The only thing I’ve figured out is that reviews are all over the place. The biggest complaint I’ve seen is that they tend to go a little haywire during high krausen.

I did enough digging to realize that the majority of bad reviews are older, but I don’t know if that means the newer models are better or if people just gave up on them. I’m still tempted to pick one up just to see for myself.

I went to the home brew sites but didn’t get many hits until I searched the brand - Tilt. Saw the same as you, folks had issues with the first gens but it looks as if they've been tweaking them for a few years now. Read good things regarding customer service. Like the calibration feature. Thought it was interesting to read how even folks that questioned their accuracy still loved the convenience.

Colorado native Olathe lager. Guess all the ingredients were grown within the sweet corn district of Olathe, Colorado. Guess it’s got corn in it too. All I know is it is smooth, tasty and refreshing. Enjoying the coolness after a rainstorm went through

Trying out this new drinking cup that the Mrs got at a local pub/restaurant yesterday, when she ordered a drink & got to keep the cup.

Can't really see the design of the cup, but it's a "tiki cup" and holds 20oz.

Pre hockey beer, trying to detox off this weekend slowly. Not the best choice: Too heavy and not enough booze. Also, I just don't really like milk stouts I'm pretty sure. Too heavy and sweet. Also also, I'm turning way too beer snob and not much impresses me anymore...

I got that MT/pizza port collab IPA and it sucked, it was a month old so I didn't think it would be that bad... We went to a bevmo and everything was old. Some hazy was from DECEMBER. My friends all made fun of me all weekend because I was checking dates and never satisfied with anything. Oh well... Maybe I need to go to bud light for a bit to re set my pallete haha

On the hunt for my perfect Munich helles. This is one of 2 I have on Tap currently.. Same mash and boil split between wlp830 and 838. I prefer the 838 for the maltier and more biscuit character it has seemed to lend itself too. Both are killer though! Cheers!

You’re being a prissy bitch. Just drink the damn beer and be happy. Shit, even I can drink a hazy and still be happy about it. Don’t think I should even give you that vanilla system of a stout now :anonymous:
