I had a late brew night last night. I wanted to get a pumpkin ale going to be ready by the end of September. This is definitely the biggest beer I’ve brewed yet with an O.G. of 1.069. I mashed a little high at 156 degf hoping to maintain some residual sweetness to balance the pie spice. I had an issue with cooling as I usually use an ice bath but lol and behold there was no ice in the freezer. Something is wrong with my ice maker. So I put it in the ferm chamber and let it cool until this morning when I pitched the yeast.

This is my strike water after steeping roasted pumpkin.

DN does some great stuff! I've enjoyed pretty much everything I've had from them. I actually have one or two of their stouts in my fridge right now.

Dead Sleep or Black Clouds series? I’m not a fan of the Dead Sleep stuff, but the Black Clouds are very good.

They’ve got some stuff in barrels right now. Easily over the six month mark currently.

I believe I have the dead sleep. I'm not that big fan of the barrel aged stuff. Most of them come off with too much of a bourbon or whiskey flavor... I'm not a big liquor drinker so I tend to stay away from them.

Beer Bros, my buddy is going to go visit a friend of his down in Mt Pleasant SC for the next few days. He's been slowly getting into craft beer thanks to yours truly.

Anyone from the area that knows of any place near by that he can hit up, or anything "local" that he should be on the lookout for at the local beverage selling places?

Westbrook should probably be near the top of the list. I believe Edmunds Oast is in the area also and the couple I’ve had from them have been dang good.

I'm from Charleston and there are definitely some good breweries in the area. The Charleston beer scene has exploded the last few years... In Mt P specifically the big ticket brewery is Westbrook. Mexican cake (imperial stout) is their claim to fame but they make several other good beers. In the summer they release a Key Lime Gose that's really good and their One Claw (pale ale) and three claw (NEDIPA) is really good too. Staying it MT P you have Ghost Monkey that is totally underrated and has a good tap room.

If he heads to DT CHS, which I'm sure he will, Revelry Brewing has the best tap room in the area. Lower level taproom that's small and intimate but they recently opened a rooftop bar that's awesome. Great views of the city and harbor. Palmetto, Fatty's, Munkle and Tradesmen are all DT too and close to one another. Edmunds Oast is a must east when DT and they opened a brewery that is awesome too.

Bottles in MT P will have a great selection of local and regional beers. That's probably the best/closest place to MT P to have a great selection. All in all though, there are like 25 breweries in the area now. Others not mentioned that aren't DT or MT P that are great choices are Coast, Charles Town Fermentory (opened by a former brewer at Treehouse or Trillium - can't recall which it wsa), Low Tide, Freehouse and Holy City. Coast, Holy City and Freehouse are all pretty close to each other as well.

Your friend will enjoy the CHS area and the beer scene. Food scene is awesome too! Grew up there and moved to the DC area 2 years ago... still go visit when i can.

Local beer brewers, trying to declutter and this is one of my projects (kegerator) that never came to fruition. Any idea on worth? Not pictured are two pony kegs as well.
