The Beer Nerd - what are you drinking / brewing thread

Blood orange IPAs seem to be the new thing. There’s a few local breweries around here that are doing them. I have yet to try one yet myself.

 

Probably in part because it's seasonal and was available and partly because folks like saying it. It works well in an IPA because flavorwise, it is a crossup of a grapefruit and a navel with a deep red color.

 

Took 2000 lbs of concrete to the dump and ended early so it was off to my favorite taco Tuesday dive bar (also where I met my wife) Kelly's Korner Tavern. Founders Backwoods bastard, Black Market Neopolitan N.E. Milkshake IPA (pic1), Modern Times Critical Band (pic2) and then an Alpine High Kicks double IPA. Then some tacos. Then I went to the gym. Not the best order for all that but oh well.

 

Better than me.... I just went to the gym.
No beer! No Tacos! No fun.

 

I'm more a fan of Left Bauer.... kinda like Left Shark.

This is my Nut Brown ale I brewed a few weeks ago after 8 days in the bottle. I’m not sure if it’s still just a little young, or I’m not used to Nottingham yeast or what but it definitely seems to be more on the ESB side of the spectrum than a true brown. Either way, it’s great just maybe not what I expected. I will let the rest of the bottles spend a week or two more at room temp.

 

If not over done "rich" they can be good.
I have found the ones on the clearer side tend to be a little better, for my tastes.

Yeah I had no idea either! Guy said he had a bunch of Treehouse to trade and I just assumed they were mostly going to be hazy IPAs! Pleasantly surprised when I looked them up.

I haven’t tried it before... Pretty excited to give it a go! He didn’t have any of their other IPAs, but I told him to keep me posted if runs into any Julius or Green and/or their variants!

 

Green is good, and the Very Green variants are fantastic.

I have had Julius, but the King versions are pretty (too, imo) juicy for me.

I need another beer. Wife is stressing out over our oldest's first day of kindergarten next week, which in turn is stressing me out. FAK!

 

Need to have fun with it. They are going to only have one true "first day of school", enjoy the moments that will soon be coming. Exciting, yes. Stressful, shouldn't be...
Your youngster can feel the stress too, and carry it with them. Everyone just needs to chill. I'll bet the wife has had everything ready since June 1 (because she's a mom, and that's what mothers do).
