'Had nowhere else to brag, so I came here! I recently picked up a conical and built a homemade glycol chiller for my house! What do y'all think?!?!?!?!

I bought a brand new one on sale, but same idea, yep!

Mind sharing what you have invested in the chiller. Asking because my local supply store has a Grainfather that goes for $1k.

 

I spent $150 on the 5000 btu AC, about $50 on wood for the box, $30 on the cooler, and had the temp controller. Glycol cost about $60, but you will need that no matter what. I'd say I built the whole thing for less than $250. I currently have about 12 gallons chilled down to 20 degrees no problem. The big advantage on top of cost savings is the capacity. It could easily handle more fermenter's, and will eventually.

You could easily save money with a used AC, and a cooler you already own.

 

So this brewery has a fairly solid reputation in the area of making pretty dang great beers. They also have the largest tap list of most any brewery at any one time. I’ve had a few of their hazies and they were all quality.

I don’t really understand why you would advertise “hop burn” as a good thing. Maybe they don’t have the same definition for that as I do. Or maybe they over dry hopped and are just trying to spin it in a good light. Just seems strange to me.

 

Had to take a break from my Oktoberfest binge for another one of these, really good beer.

 

Thinking about hitting up Nod Hill in the next town over after work, and grab a 4 pack of each of these tomorrow.

Nothing like that burning hop grit from a freshly dry hopped beer ... Must have been something theyre trying to sound intentional for.

 

Had the "Be So Fluffy" tonight. Not bad, better than the other nights.

Also had another bottle of my Helles and I'm really digging the drinkability of it. Has a little chill haze and the color seems darker but taste is great.
