Cool. The retro labels haven’t made it here yet but I definitely going to pick some up!

tonight’s choice:

Is there a swap thread? I’d totally be interested in participating, especially since many of you don’t have access to the awesomeness that is Tröegs.

Edit: Tröegs is only available in Pa, Nj, Ny, Md, Va, Nc, and Oh as per their website.

 

Not really a thread per se that I am aware of. It's more of you put up a post on here saying you want to trade with peeps, see if anyone if up for it as well, and then exchange PMs.

 

I figured as such. I’ll have to put some thought into that...
I was able to pick up a 1/2 case of Tröegs Mad Elf this past weekend and it is simply outstanding. Here’s the details:

 

I finally got a bottle of that down here in NC this past holiday season. I was a fan for sure!

 

I will be adding some of this to my Burial order this week. @Cativelense it would be cool to compare this beer from different breweries. We might have to work something out.

 

I came home and took a sample of my Carolina Lager. It finished around 1.008 so should give me right about 5% abv. Even better, the beer tastes great. It will make for a wonderful crispy boi after it spends some time in the bottle.

Then I had one of my Best Bitters as I am actually in need of bottles for my lager. I really can’t wait to get a few kegs going.


Then I tried one of my Cherry Dubbels. After a week in the bottle, the carb level is actually very good. The head is slightly pink and the color of the beer is a very nice red. There’s not much Belgian yeast character. There’s also really not much cherry flavor either, but rather some nice tartness. If I didn’t know it was a Belgian, I would think it was a very good beer. I’m just not sure if the cherries are covering up the yeast character or if it’s just missing.

 

I just picked up 3 4packs of it today from my local place!

I'll save you a can.

Just the one tonight. A new-to-me juicy ipa from a localish brewery.

 

I should have mine next week. I’ll keep you updated

 

If it comes out as well as the sample tastes, I’ll put a couple bottles aside.

No hops were used in the hot side of the brewing process. Interesting beer. “Heaps” of hop flavor but none of the bitterness

 

I gave the Blue moon light a try. It was ok. The Bells Official hazy never disappoints.

 

What temp did you ferment it at and what yeast again?

I've done similar, but did whirlpool hops, so sort of hot side. It's a tough one to nail because it has such a narrow window of enjoyment. I prefer a hint of bittering to give them a little more longevity.

Grabbed this the other day and trying it while my legs are mush from a bike ride. It's pretty tasty. I don't mind the lactose in this one. Pastry stouts are bleeding into my IPAs now with my need for sweetness.
