    Very nice. Black IPA is one of my favorite styles and one I'll never pass up when one comes along. Kind of a bitter, hoppy porter.

    Even after several decades of marriage and requesite immersion in Hong Kong culture, despite my best efforts, I find myself learning something new

    A favourite (well, the only one) niece just had a baby, exactly one month ago, so of course that is cause for celebration. Apparently, as history goes, if the baby and mother survive that first month, then the baby is considered one year old. Kinda like time served in prison, I guess. Given that this is a zebra baby - mommy is Hong Kong, Dad is a Caucasian - Ergo, zebra - there are a whole Lotta cultural idiosyncrasies

    And never mind the ubiquitous 'tiger mum'....try 'tiger grandma'. apparently nobody on the planet, including g other grandma's, mothers, and Paramedics who specialized in pediatrics are even remotely qualified to care for the baby...Who, incidentally, looks like Winston Churchill. Put a bowler hat on his head and stuff a stogie in his maw...


    The good news is, it is cause for celebration, with a bbq and lots of cheap beer.
