GABF charges way too damned much for entrance. In fact, all of the beer festivals here in the US do. I just spent 5 years in England and could get into a CAMRA beer festival for around $5 and that included a collectible glass. It was free entry if you were a member. Admittedly, you still had to pay for your third, half, or full pints, but it was dirt cheap. The same thing here costs $50 and GABF? Don't even get me started on how much they charge....

On a happy note, felt like I was getting into a bit of a rut with all of the IPAs, so I got myself a growler of Founder's Breakfast Stout. Definitely hit the spot! So good and creamy with coffee, caramel and cocoa flavors. I could start drinking it for breakfast and just go all day.

Sorry to hijack the thread but the homebrew room is pretty dead. Two of my 3 gallons of cider bubbled up into the airlock a bit. Nothing serious like what happens with beer sometimes, but now the vodka is stained lightly. Everything is calm now, just nice easy bubbling every second or two.

Question is - do I pull the locks, wash them & return them or will the vodka keep anything from growing in the airlock? I assume the risk of a dirty airlock full of vodka is less than the risk of contamination due to pulling the airlock off & washing it out, so my gut tells me to just leave it alone.

Leave them. Top them off as necessary; but the vodka will keep it clean.

All their stuff is good and the best part is their brewery and The Brewpub is an hour boat ride across the bay, I can ride bike there. :D

Picked these up at the Boulevard Brewery in KCMO. The big bottle is limited release of 10850 bottles and is a variant of the 6th Glass aged in Jack Daniels casks. They call it the Bourbon Barrel Quad. I'm saving it for the end of the world with my bottle of King George Blue Label.

I remember when Shiner was stepping it up... And I remember when they first released them outside of Texas after Spoetzl sold out and now charges a premium (read: import) price for something brewed right off of I10 between Houston and San Antonio.

Ya I find it funny how they are pretty pricey for basic beer, I love that they are still "family owned" but have miller? As a distributor
