Another MO brewer sold to the Belgians. Oh well, AB hasn't changed that much in the 10 years InBev has owned it.

I'm drinking local tonight; I'm trying to finish off the Live Oak Hefe clone in my kegerator so I can brew something else pretty soon.

Will be 2 weeks tomorrow. Airlock activity is slowing daily. Now down to once every 20 seconds or so. Will leave it for another week or two and then probably right into bottle conditioning. I'm impatient!

You might want the other two gallons to sit a little longer. I would give them a good swirl so as to get the less active yeast on the bottom a chance to eat their way through one more time. I'm afraid the other two gallons that were under tossed might not fully ferment and come out too sweet.

Hard to tell in something as bland as bud light, Bud sales on the other hand have tanked.

One side of the beer consumers continues to move toward the lightest possible beverage that can still be called beer while the rest of us look for flavor.

Think that has anything to do with ownership? I don't, but I'm open to hearing other opinions.

The numbers I've seen are that bud light sales are flat and bud sales are down substantially. Don't know if it has anything to do with inbev.

I can imagine bud drinkers rejecting bud after the sale.

Bud light drinkers like marketing more than they like beer.

Close to the source, Select is eating into Light sales. No idea if that means overall + or - for AB. Not defending them, Schlafly is my fav STL brewery by a long shot!

Like I said, Budweiser is left relying on marketing bottle colors and bowtie shaped cans, while miller markets vortex bottles and can opening size? Coors goes for labels that change color.

AB was down 2.3% this spring, trying to find out how the last 5 years has been since inbev bought them.

I did a report on the rise of Craft Beers compared to the decline of Big Beer. The majority of people that were asked why they prefer craft beers responded that they either like the taste/flavor and/or the "brew local, drink local" part of it. Big Beer has noticed that craft brews are taking a larger chunk out of their profit than most people notice in that a rising number of the "craft breweries" now are actually Big Beer in a Craft Beer name. ie Goose Island, 3rd Shift, and Shocktop beers.

The distribution of craft beer by the Big Beer distributors goes back to the early post-prohibition days. There are just so many distributors to pick from and they all happen to be puppets for one of the big beer companies. If a small brewery wants a chance to get on more shelves they have to do business with their competition or deliver it on their own.

Good, but I was really hoping it would be better. I'm pretty bummed I can't get Shipyard Pumpkinhead in my city this year.

Your report is behind the times, we (Avery) have independent distributors in every state we are in with no connection to the big distributors. We do have distributors that are strictly craft distributors but for the most part it is everyone in craft brewing together, we aren't in competition.

It really is us against the big 3 and has been for a long time. Avery loaned bottling equipment to Great Divide 18 years ago to help them get going, and now we share parts for similar bottling lines. If Oscar Blues can help me, they will, and visa versa, Odell's the same, St Arnolds, Real Ale, Bear Republic, Left Hand, Allagash, I've traded information and parts with all of them, to name a few.

The craft brewing brotherhood with a few exceptions works toward all small brewers succeeding against mediocre beer from the big guys. As unlikely as that seems it is true from my 16 year experience.
