I've been on a kick with that stuff lately. Spotted it at the store maybe three weeks ago and grabbed a pack, and I've been getting a pack every Friday afternoon since then!

They're both pretty awesome. I like the flavor of the porter better but the scotch is still awesome. Like 23Skidoo mentioned, it is strong (which I like :) ) THey also make a Backwoods Bastard that is a barrel aged version. Even better tasting esp if you like a little whiskey every now and then. Gives it a sweeter flavor. It's like 10-11% I believe.

That stuff sounds pretty awesome! I've only had the 60 min IPA and that was good. I can't imagine this especially having maple syrup as well! Sounds sic!

Teach me the ways of the beer gods.

I'm new to the drinking age and I've yet to find a beer that I enjoy drinking other than Ale. But I feel like that's not beer

    Suggestions?

When I was that age I was immediately drawn to stouts (still kinda am). After that it was on!

You just gotta decide what you like about beer flavor. Sweetness? Bitterness(Hoppy-ness)? Malty-ness? Then start with beers that fit that flavor description and go from there.
Have you tried going to some microbreweries and just gotten their flights to sample a bunch of beers at once? That way you can compare them side by side a little better.

    Good idea!

I know I like Ale. I can't do Samuel Adams or anything like that. I just don't have the taste buds for it.

Sounds to me like you don't really like the bitter flavored stuff. You should try beers that have a lower IBU rating. They'll taste less bitter and be much more palatable for you. You'll probably like beers with a I higher malt content. They tend to be a bit sweeter. If you end up trying out some samplers at various places, try to get a wide variety of beers. All different colors from super light to pitch black to give yourself a chance to try everything out. These days with so many variations of beers out there, I'm sure you'll find some stuff that you'll love.
