I'm starting to realize I'm not a big fan of anything with chocolate in it's name. There's a few exceptions but the more chocolate stouts I drink, the less I've been enjoying them

Did you burn yourself out on them or just not into the taste?
What type do you find yourself gravitating to?

The bourbon barrel taste came through more than the chocolate. But yes, most "chocolate" beers aren't great. Especially Stone's Enjoy By 2/14/2017.

Not sure. I've been drinking a lot of stouts lately - BA and coffee mainly - and my least favorites have been those with chocolate in them. They're not bad, I'm just not digging them much. Maybe I'm just stout overloaded and need some more juice and/or hop bombs in my life. I've been a bit spoiled lately with having Bottle Logic's Dark Star November, Red Eye November, Fundamental Observation, and then the Bruery's Black Tuesday, so that may be playing a factor in there as well haha

The best chocolate stout I have ever had was a monthly special from the Chatham Brewery. My god. That was so damn good.

Just had that one last night. It wasn't the worst I've had, but their regular coffee or mocha IPA is tip top.

I noticed that a while ago too, was getting sick of dark and heavy all the time. So I got a couple different brews that I really tasted differently.
Gotta say, Rogue Dead Guy has become one of my favorite ales now.

I still love dark and heavy, just gotta space them out. I've got a Prairie Bomb! sitting in the fridge for tonight, but that's a bit lighter of a coffee stout. And I have a All That Is And All That Ever Will Be from Tree House in there too, supposed to be like drinking chocolate milk. Just need some more milk stouts I think.

I don't think I've ever had the Dead Guy from Rogue surprisingly, I usually stay away from the regular brews, but I may need to start going back to some ales and lagers

It was a one time brew a few months back. All I can say is, good luck my friend. I got lucky and have a trade partner in NY who venture to Tree House/Trills nearly every other weekend and I traded him one of my Fundamental Observations for it and a couple other TH brews.

    Ahhh. Damn.
That's like that Chatham Brewery stout I had. It was a one and done for them (unless it got rave reviews).

There are a couple of chocolate-based brews that I'm a fan of: Lugene (O'Dell) and Shake (Boulder Beer). Very strong chocolate flavor if you're into that.

I love it. It's actually a porter, but it really does taste like a chocolate shake.
