Have a Haw River Teku coming in the mail soon (and a nice Suarez bottle waiting to go with it :D).
Looking forward to popping open that bottle.

Have to serve at a beer fest tomorrow, so can't go hit midnight releases. So I'm having a 2016.

Last nights list of victims for me and the GF.
The Divine has improved, very chocolatey, a touch of roast.
I wasnt as impressed with it after it came out. A friend had a party at SA and we had a keg of it to hit.

The Agria seems hit and miss. I had it great on tap a few years ago. I have not been as impressed in the bottle.

Rocheforte 10 is always solid. I dont remember if this is recent, or from the case I bought 5 years ago to cellar.

The Radler is nice, the ginger works well.

Staycation is a solid session wheat, a touch citrus (orange).

I liked the Guinness Rye, the GF did not. OTOH, it was a hydration break from heavier stuff. The rye is noticeable and the hops were nice. Its not a great beer, but its sessionable.

The pineapple wine is about a year old. Last year we went to the Real Ale Anniversary party. After talking to a local, when we left we headed to this little industrial park a ways away that had Argus Cidery, Revolution Spirits and Last Stand? Brewery. I may have that name wrong. The spirits were meh, but some of the beers were good. I am not a cider person normally but there stuff was solid, and they had a not for sale batch that they were pouring (tons of free samples) which they had put agave in which was sensational.

Anyways I was trying to free up fridge room so I took down the pineapple wine. Intense pineapple, sweet. i dont have a bad hangover though.

That was batch 2. Its very nice, almost with a hint of licorice (sp?). We just had a bit from the thief.
I need to try it later and see how the alcohol compares to batch 1.

    Batch 1 was similar.
12 lbs Maris, 2 lbs Brown, 1 lb 6 oz of Black Patent is kegged, dark fruits, raisins.
There is a very low hint of acrid from the BP. Its detectable if you want to run around bleeding from the crotch and whine "ashtray" but
    its not what everyone predicts.

If you want to try, and play it safer, I would say drop to 1 lb of the BP.
Oh, and these were long boils, 90-120.

I will probably roll with a 3rd batch soon, I need to see how the alcohol is in 2.
I will probably drop some of the Brown, keep or increase the Pale Chocolate and see what else intrigues me.

Can you find the St Arnold's Divine, Bishop's and/or Icon series easily in your area? Most of what I see up here are the year rounders and seasonals.

    Are you using lump?
I was happy to see Home Depot selling the Red Oak 15 lb bags for 9.99 on sale and grabbed one yesterday.

Yes, I am in Houston so no problem with the Icon/DR.

But the Bishop is usually very limited size so there isnt a great amount one can score.

And a couple months we got very lucky with an HEB deciding to unload their cellar stock and they were selling Bishops 12-16.

Right on. Sounds like you found a recipe you like. Best part of brewing is finding something you like and dialing it in. I have a few recipes that I always have in the pipeline and then I usually try something new for my other tap.

I really like acidulated malt so I use it in almost all my recipes to some degree. My cream ale uses a whole pound. Adds a little bit of tart in the aftertaste which people point out when trying it. I dig it some don't.

You like BP which is cool. The few times I've used very small amounts I found it over powered everything else.

Farmhouse mashing on left, double IPA on right. Blickmann w/ 220 boil coil for quick hot liquor on rack.

    20170401_133225.jpg

Today's brewing beverage. An IPA I made. I wasn't happy with it at Kegging time, so 2oz leaf Zeus and 2oz leaf Cited put some spine into it. It's mellowed down and now it's a dank bite of hops and not so green.
