Was it someone on here that was looking for Leo vs. Ursus? I have access to a bit of it.

Little Sumpin' tonight. I'll be in northern CA next week so I'll be hitting up some breweries.

OK, surprised I havent seen this mentioned
    Sierra Nevada Beer Camp

    20170616_073156.jpg

Me and the GF made it through 5 last night

Ginger Lager (with cayenne, and oak) with Surly Brewing (MN) 6.2%

This was pretty smooth. I have made a ginger IPA and (got 3rd place), and it had a nice ginger bite, like a good ginger beer does. This was smoother, I was thinking from the malt, but probably the oak as well. The GF didnt like the cayenne, I didnt notice it. Nice

    Dunkle Weisse with Ayinger 5.7%

Its a nice clean dunkle weisse. Nothing exciting here.

White IPA (with coriander, nutmet and yuzu) with Kiuchi (Hitachino Nest) 7.0%

Its starts out ok, but finished a bit harsh. I didnt like the interplay of the yuzu and the hops, almost phenolic. Bitterness was similar to that from citrus pith. Not a fan.

Hoppy Belgian Golden (lemon peel) with Duvel 8%

Very nice. Very dry. The lemon wasnt spectacular, but the base beer was excellent. The best of them so far.

Dry Hopped Berliner Weisse with St. Arnold 4.2%

Excellent beer, but I am a sour head. No flaws, not shining in wheat depth, but clean, sharp and a bit dry

I had 3 of the others on tap, and wasnt a fan. I am hoping for an improvement 2nd time around for some, we will see.

    20170616_074548.jpg

East Meets West IPA (IPA malt and NE IPE hops) with Tree House 7.0%

For me, the hops tasted too earthy. This didnt do it for me.

West Coast DIPA with Boneyard 8.3%

When I had it it was smooth, not too citrusy. However, It had a weird, almost buttery like sweetness I didnt like. I dont want to say diacetyl, because I wasnt getting slick mouthfeel. I didnt finish it and ordered something else.

Thai Iced Tea (lactose, orange peel, black tea, tamarind, star anise) with Mikkeller 7.2%

This tastes like something a few random clowns who had Thai Iced tea but never brewed beer would come up with. After having double checked I see that the ingredient list isn't really off. No cardamom, and some use clove, but that is minor. But it just doesnt work. For me these flavors were not harmonic in beer form. This is coming from someone who loves Thai food and does enjoy Thai Iced Tea.

There are a few others I have yet to try.
    From http://allaboutbeer.com/sierra-nevada-beer-camp-across-the-world/

Atlantic Vintage Ale with Fuller’s Brewery

An American spin on Fuller’s Vintage Ale, Atlantic Vintage Ale was brewed with plum purée and dry hopped with Centennial and Loral hops. John Keeling of Fuller’s believes the beer will taste best with age.

    Campout Porter with Garage Project

Garage Project brewers initially thought of using New Zealand whole cone hops in their beer, but the seasons didn’t align. Instead, they landed on malt smoked with wood from the mānuka tree, which is native to New Zealand and Australia. Beechwood honey and Tahitian vanilla combine with the smoky character, conjuring the taste of a toasted marshmallow.

Dry-Hopped Barleywine Style Ale with Avery Brewing Co.

Avery Brewing co-founder Adam Avery cites Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale as his epiphany beer, which first inspired Avery to brew Hog Heaven barley wine in the mid-1990s. “[Bigfoot] was the beer for me, and Hog Heaven really changed our brewery and we started down the road with higher gravity things and we ended up where we are right now,” says Avery.

    Raspberry Sundae with The Bruery

Taking inspiration from two of its recent culinary beers, The Bruery is aiming to replicate the flavors of a raspberry ice cream sundae. The recipe includes raspberry purée, cocoa powder, lactose, vanilla and oats. The pilot beer, while decadent and delicious, is closer to a raspberry truffle.

Probably me, I found it and its still nice, but if it was just the one release, its starting to get past its prime. It came out 2? months ago?
For a $15 4 pack of DIPA, its time to be wary. Now I am talking about Fortem, with the yellow top.

I just hit up the F&W website and another is imminent, or out now in NOCAL!!! Adversus. June 2017 - Sep 2017

They are making 3 batches, with releases to different states

One of the only times I puked in college was courtesy of those little green bottles. The other was thanks to Cisco "wine".

My goto beer varies between a local breweries IPA - Lynwood Brewing, Hop on Top and Wicked Weed, Pernicious although not at all happy about the sale to inbev.
    [IMG] [IMG]

Appalachian Mountain Brewing's Daniel Double is fantastic but I can only get it when I go to the mountains. It's a 9% double but drinks like a 5% IPA. Very Very easy to overdo it but a delicious beer.

I love very hoppy IPA's so if you do as well, I can recommend any of these if you find yourself in NC!

Probably 20 years ago, but I was at the Chicago Blues Festival with my wife and she went to a nearby liquor store and picked up a couple bottles of Cisco thinking they were wine coolers at normal 5%. She poured them both into a thermal mug with ice and proceeded to drink it fairly quick. She soon felt pretty drunk and confused, and then we looked at the bottle and saw 18%. She doesn't drink much.
