I lived in Charlotte for 5 years and their craft beer scene is and was blowing up. I'd say hit up Old Mecklenburg Brewery, Sycamore Brewery, NoDa Brewery, Birdsong, and Triple C. If you have time Unkown is really good too. When I was down there I knew a few reps at each place and it was so worth it!

Very smooth but not as heavy as some other Scotch Ales. The smokiness comes thru. An easy drinker for sure.

Prairie Birthday Bomb - it's become a tradition for the wife and I to split a bottle on each of our birthdays. Her birthday was over the weekend, mine is in a couple of weeks, so we'll do it again soon. It's a great beer, very smooth and drinkable at 13%. I think I got more chili pepper flavor last year though.

It's an imperial stout aged on coffee, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and chili peppers. It's very good. They have Bomb! available year round which has the same description, but I'm not sure what is different in the birthday version. There are some other variations that they release throughout the year, but all the ones that I've had have been great.
