Drinking a Texas Honey Ale from Guadalupe Brewing. It is not a bad beer; just a little sweeter than I expected. Yes, I know it is a honey ale but that does not mean they had to leave it so sweet.

    Meh.
Commercially-produced shandies suck. But a few pages back I posted a recipe I found a couple years ago for a Ginger Shandy that's damn good on a hot day. Not as overpoweringly sweet/lemony/limey as the ones you find on the shelf.
So I imagine that a small-batch shandy done correctly (without lots of added lactose to sweeten it up) would be pretty good.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
He just asked me to make a wheat beer for him so he could do the shandy thing. Worst case, I have plenty wheat beer for a month or two.

I took a look at the ginger shandy you were talking about. Seems worth trying. I saw a Hoegaarden clone recipe that I could make work. Looks like I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

Went on a great trip to Ocracoke Island here in NC. There is a little place called Zillies back in a neighborhood. Over 300 different craft brews.
One notable they had on tap was the Delirum Tremens. Also had a good saison from Victory.

The New Belgium Imperial is really hoppy with a nicely balanced sweetness. Good stuff! And I got suckered by the Mad Hatter logo in a build-your-own-sixer a week ago and it's good enough for me to pick up a six pack of it. Happy Thursday!
