From the seat of my pants a wee bit longer delay than I ever noticed on other vehicles.

Not at all normal a/t operation. Perhaps Toyota has deemed it acceptable, but in the hundreds of cars and trucks I’ve driven that was not normal.

I am not sure if they fixed the transmission in the 2020's but my tranny has zero issues. It works exactly like every other tranny I have ever driven.

Hopefully. But I was told it was fixed for the 2019’s too. But mine still has issues and they didn’t show up until 5-6k miles. I test drove 3 trucks and didn’t have it happen during the test drive. Brand new I was actually quite surprised how nice it was compared to my 2007.

    Hey OP,

I know tho thread had taken a turn for the weirdest, but in all sincerity you may want to look at getting the TSB for the crank position sensor issue (depending on the year of your truck) that many of these had issues with. When a crank position sensor is faulty or has too much of the frame coating from the factory on it, it can basically cause the truck to go limp dick and forget there is a gas pedal. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Now back to the cross-dressing weirdness

When I first read the title I thought, his transmission attacked him, maybe with a gun, maybe a knife, a blunt object. Then come to find out, it was a driver that wasn't obeying the traffic laws that almost killed him.

I believe him, it can happen and should be allowed to vent somewhere, I get it.

But from here forward, there’s a lot of good tips on how to avoid a future episode, It won’t cost and the answer is in the owners manual, easy peaches fix.

That said, the transmission is a learning type that is looking at every day wear and tear and adjusting.
Moreover, if you change equipment like different type wheels, tires, lift or disconnect the battery without a memory saver, you may have a hiccup until it learns and compensates. It's a new age and we all learn including the engineers that build it.
