It gets weather reports from google and knows when it’s wet outside. Google is total bullshit because it never reports when it’s dry out unless you are in a drought. Why they don’t just make the nerds fix this glitch is beyond me. :notsure:

Just to be clear, you are saying that a Tacoma reaches out to Google weather, asks "Hey is it wet out", Google says "Yes", and then the Tacoma goes "OK, engaging traction control LOL". That's whats happening here?

I see you’ve found the problem. It should be asking if it’s wet outside but it doesn’t. It just says, “ Hey Google, what’s the weather?” Google reports back this:

That's how I imagine OP reacted when his transmission almost killed him. Hopefully the 4th gen is less sentient than the 3rd gen.

If you're contemplating paying for a fix, check out getting the software retune. When I did in 2022 for my 2018 TRD DCOR, the transformation was fantastic. The new shifting pattern often shifts up or down exactly when I want it to. I went from constantly managing the gears manually to now just doing so if I want to spare the brakes via downshifts. I paid about $300 - regearing is the last thing you need. Besides keeping it in 2nd to survive your pullouts from home, you could wait for the existing software to learn up (if it really does), or use the ETC button.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I had a 2022 Electric lime pro. I hated the automatic transmission sooo much I sold the fucker at a slight loss and then I bought a MT. Problem solved. Now it's all on me.

But I do miss the JBL, auto start. Don't need crawl control. I'd rather use a trac and "drive" while off roading.

well it will only let the tires spin for a fraction of a second before kicking in. in the wet, i couldn't get them to spin at all. it had reduced power, immediately.

this sounds right. it's pretty interesting how it can do all this automatically.
