It was factual but had some differences from what history says happened

Watched it the other day. Pretty good. It helps to have a general knowledge of the old testament prior to watching.

There's no ban on religious discussion, just political. It can get locked if it turns to crap.

I've heard about it but haven't seen it. I looked it up and it seems to be a telling of the Bible story.

We viewed the 1st episode...it was well done.

    A few points:
Mark Burnett who has several TV hits was denied by the large networks (seems Bible history is not PC enough these days )

History channel picked it up and had record viewership (14.8 million) for the 1st episode. :D

Roma Downey (Mr. Burnett's wife and co producer) was quoted:
"We are not saying 'Maybe this happened', or 'According to the Bible', we're just telling the story as written. "So, someone who believes will reconize it and love it for that. Someone who doesn't, and isn't going to, will still feel the emotional pull of the story and will be informed in a different way, without being talked at."

The scenes are awesome (filmed in Morocco)...the acting is excellent. From what I have read/heard...by episode 3 the story leaves the Old Testiment and enters the New Testiment...and really gets good.

    My tip:
record it and view it zipping past the commercials. It keeps the mind in the scene/story with minimum modern interuption.
