    This might be a stupid question, but the game doesn't notify you of nearby monsters when the screen is off correct?

    Same with the distance tracking I assume??

    It has to be the active app, but it will dim the screen if you aren't touching it to at least save some battery..

    I was just out for like 15min and went from 19% to 11% though

    Boost and flex and 35s
    Turn on battery saver mode. When you turn your phone upside down it will completely shut the screen off but will still make noise and vibrate when you get near a Pokemon. That's the best way to make your battery last

    Mine shuts off the screen automatically after a while and then it seems the app doesn't track anymore.....

    go hit up a few pokestops...they have a 5 min cool down i think..so if you are in an area there has a bunch you can just cycle thru them to get a bunch of pokeballs pretty quickly.

    Can pokemon escape pokeballs after you throw it at them and they appear caught?

    I was all excited I found a Ponyta, threw a ball, it was doing it's little "roll around, I'm caught" thing, so I did a dance and heard the phone make a noise...and I don't have a captured Ponyta. :(

    Yes. They struggle and can escape just as they do in the Gameboy versions.

    Just started playing yesterday myself and got stuck at an airport for hours today which had a bunch of pokestops! Caught a drowzee and then a strong hypno. He's the max CP I can get for my current level.
