Book was better, they changed it up somewhat, but like the book, leaves one with many questions.

Everyone knows that GPS is reliable to the point of driving door to door with your eyes closed and there are never traffic jams during mass hysteria.

I really didn't understand how a dingy old blanket which you could totally see through was the hard counter to whatever the monster is.

Also why was anything with doors and windows a barrier for the "monsters"? I bet they are glad they spent all their budget on Sandra Bullock cause otherwise it would have been ripped apart even more so.

I wasn't even too terribly impressed with her in this, tbh. Her character just isn't fleshed out enough for me to really get into

At least she 180* her character when it counted for the story.

To me, the only original twist in this over so many other "humanity wiped out in one day, last survivors seeking 'safe zones'" was the fact that we never got to see/know what exactly it was that was killing everyone. Usually it's a plague, nuclear war, meteor strike, volcano, invasion by extra terrestrials, or something that we are told at the beginning of the movie. Otherwise, just one more boring movie like all the other apocalypse themed movies.
