Ah I see. Okay. How did hauling a ton of concrete feel in the Taco?

Not too bad. Still off the bumpstops - but not too far off.

Keep in mind I have dakar leafs with the overload, in a truck that despite armor is still a 4 cyl reg cab. So I'm still roughly around a dcsb's total GVWR even with that load.

    Wasn't a long trip - just a few miles.

Impressive considering the payload is much lower than that. Unfortunately.

Awesome rig man! I appreciate the write up on the OME lift install too. It's going to be my bible when I install my OME lift that's currently collecting dust in my apartment.

Replaced all four CV boots at 75K miles. Inner driver side was worn paper thin. Tech told me it was actually perforated, though it hadn't failed and exploded grease everywhere yet. Passenger side could have gone a bit longer (20k miles??) but it's worth it to me to have it all done.

I do my own modifications because I'm picky about how stuff turns out and the "pros" are usually more interested in completing the job on time (at a profit) than with great attention-to-detail. But other than simple oil changes, I don't usually bother to do my own maintenance.

How does the truck handle pulling the boat?

Boat and trailer together's somewhere around or above 3000lbs; so it's close to but not over the limit for the 4 cylinder. Towing it is no worries. But the trailer does have brakes. It'd be a little sketch without trailer brakes.

There's a big long steep climb coming out of pismo beach up towards san luis obispo. Fully loaded trucks are going pretty slow in the right lane. I kept going 50+ the whole way.

I do put it in 4-lo to pull up the launch ramp when retrieving out of the water. Could pull out without doing that - but the lower gearing makes for less drama.

The main thing is that's a pretty wide trailer, so I always have to keep an eye out.

The tacoma's been promoted to "elder statesman" status and is no longer the "daily driver" in favor of...

...a car with a carpool lane sticker.

I bought it used. Leafs (Leaves?) depreciate like a falling rock. This 2013 with about 26k miles was only eleven bills.o_O:D

Horses for courses man. We needed another car in the family. Using the carpool lane saves me like half an hour a day. I commute a perfect distance for the battery in that thing. And once I amortize the cost of the charger in the garage (4 months) - I'll be saving over 200 a month in gas - even after allowing for the extra electricity usage. And for a 2013 car of any stripe - it was dirt cheap.

And, I'll admit it, I find pure electric cars technologically cool.
