Intakes only make a slight difference in n/a vehicles, but it should make a decent improvement with my supercharger

Plastidip tip: Heat the can up under warm water before use. It will make it less (chunky) not as much texture to it. You will use a little more paint then not doing that but it should make it apply a little more even

With that AFE cold air intake DO NOT ford deep water. Where the intake opening is located is perfect to suck in water. But aside from that I have heard they are the best for an SC.

Do you think I can hook the AFE to a snorkel in the future?

Correct me if I am wrong bur doesn't the AFE system incorporate a scope that you install just above the radiator? That's the part I am talking about. Or is a sealed box in the engine bay that got back to the stock hole in the fender? If it goes back into the stock hole in the fender you need take sure your splash guards are in tact then light water fording is acceptable. Also if it goes back to the stock hole then, yes you can modify a snorkel set up to work with it.

Personally, I would save my money on the AFE and just buy and Airflow snorkel (if you want it now) or wait for Safari to release their 2nd gen snorkel later this year. Run the snorkel with your stock air box and an aftermarket filter.

I'm not entirely sure how the AFE is set up, I would have to talk to someone who has one.
What would be the reasoning behind not doing the AFE AND a snorkel? I feel like that would just turn it into like a super cold air intake and it would have awesome airflow

The air flow would be worse. It's like a straw.

Worse with a snorkel? I'm thinking AFE intake with a safari snorkel

Adding a snorkel adds static pressure. It's like @3378jakesr5 said, it's equivalent to breathing through a straw. Ever tried breathing through a long (more than 2' long) tube at the pool as a kid. It gets much harder the longer the tube is. Even if the tube is as big or bigger than your throat (i.e. Not something small like a long straw)

So a snorkel would NOT be good for my supercharger?

A snorkel will be fine. Even a NA engine has enough sucking power to draw air through a snorkel. You just have to realize that a snorkel isn't improving your airflow, it's main benefit is getting the air intake up and out of the dusty airflow in and around your fender. This goes back to what I was trying to say last night, the stock airflow location in the fender is already getting airflow only a few degrees above ambient temp. So a cold air intake of any kind won't be gaining you much if anything by decreasing intake temps. They may however provide a bit of extra power by means of "charging" the cylinders better by creating resonance in the intake tube.

If you're looking for power I'd look to upgrade the exhaust side of things.

Are you getting your Temps at start up or after a warm engine? And are you talking under throttle or at idle?

I refound a page where they are talking about a snorkel and super charger. Because I want to do a snorkel and I'm sure at some point will have a super. They have been done and you do see loss. BUT @CoTacoTRD said that the cancer snorkel is larger for the 4 inch intake on the truck. With his Eric's not being for the truck and just doing some simple math. If the snorkel that every one has used so far is 2 inch id that's only 3.14 cu inch per inch down the pipe. But if you get the larger one that supposedly has 4 inches down the length you now have 12.56 cu inches per inch down the snorkel. I'm positive you will still have restrictions from the added length but not as much that others are getting. :notsure: My two cents and why I'm going with the cancer snorkel when it comes out rather then the other one.

With a warm engine and temps were noticed during normal driving conditions. I haven't noticed if temps go up when idle. I'll have to pay attention.

Did some investigating on this today while driving around town. With the engine fully warmed up the engine temp ranged from about 177-185 no matter what kind driving I did (city vs highway). At highway speeds the intake temp was equal to the outside ambient temp 26.6F and 27F respectively. For city driving the intake temp was between 5 and 30 degrees hotter than the outside temp depending on frequency and duration of traffic lights. For reference this portion of the drive was down Colorado Blvd between Hampden and 6th ave in both directions. Let me know if you have any other questions.

OK just wanted to confirm what you are seeing with air in the fender vs what I see with my snorkel. Under throttle typically my intake temps will be within 2 degrees of ambient outside temp. When driving slow or at a stoplight my intake temps will climb 10 to 20 degrees.

Does your scan gauge measure the cfm's at the MAF? Under full acceleration mine will hit over 1200.
