I have no pun for aluminum.

So is aluminum pretty much just for pavement princesses?

For the most part. I have seen a lot of 3/16 steel need to be beet back to flat to bolt back on so I don't know if I want to see what aluminum does. It's fine for weekend worriors but if you wheel hard go steel.

I feel like I could use the extra weight of the steel anyway. I feel like the 700 pounds brings on my icons might just be LITTLE overkill right now and I need to mellow them out with some weight

AL can be just as strong but it will gouge deeper which can hang you up more. I suggest steel for IFS, trans, and T Case to protect the vitals. Then if you want UCA skids go AL and go AL for the gas tank skids. I will be ordering an AL gas tank skid from RCI soon.

Keep in mind your springs are designed to hold you up. If you add weight it increases preload which can create a stiffer ride. It's the dampening on your shocks that are making your ride rough. But they are still new. They need time to break in.

I only notice it when I hit potholes or manhole covers that are kind of deep. My guess is that the spring is so stiff that it fully extends almost immediately and causes the clanking noise that I keep hearing

Shouldn't be a clanking noise. Is the UCA hitting the spring? What bump stops are you running?

The UCAS shouldn't be hitting the spring, that's why I bought aftermarket. And I am still running factory front bumps

Yeah they shouldn't but you might want to Jack it up and let it extend to make sure. Factory bumps are really hard so there is a small chance you could be tapping it but I kind of doubt that with the longer coilovers.

If it is the upper control arms what the hell am I supposed to do? That's the reason why I bought aftermarket is to avoid issues like that
