There's something special about the guy that Danny sold the LC to before it came to me

Anyway, I decided to clean my door panels and wipe everything down. While I was doing so, I decided to figure out why the driver rear window didn't go down. Quick diagnosis found out that the switch was unplugged!

However, Pandora's box was opened; I roll the window down only for it to fall off the track and fall down!

It's now fixed, but the issue was that the 'track' that's attached to the bottom of the window had shifted too far to the right.

Below you'll see the track is almost level with the rubber lining. It was shifted a good 2-3" causing the roller wheel on the regulator to fall out the track.

    All done!

    Looking better already.

Forgot to mention this earlier but, not only did my Sparco seat arrive next day from being shipped but I also received a small refund from Sparco.

I'm assuming it was a shipping difference?

Whatever it was, I thought that was cool as fuck. Can only imagine how good the customer support is. They were awesome with me over the phone when I had a few questions.

Went camping for President's Day weekend. Definitely nice to get out and away from everyone with the fam.

Was also a test to see how the LC would fair on a trip as my driving is limited to no more than 35mins at a time.

Aside from a whine from my power steering just before leaving, everything ran just fine the whole way to and back.

Wife caught one of me setting everything up.

No, the Hot Cheetos aren't mine.

One thing I take on every camping trip is my Milwaukee inverter, that thing always comes in clutch.

    20220219_182655.jpg

Made a few stops on the way back. Man I miss living so close to the ocean.

Bronx had way more room compared to the 4R. What's nice is the seats sit higher so he can easily stare out the window.

Man, what can I say...I've waited quite enough for this bracket so when it came in, I left work early to start my install

The bracket and track/slider do come separately, but I mocked them up to get an idea as to how it's oriented.

I could've made one at work, but I hate the thought of how inconvenient it'd be to bolt and unbolt my seat several times just to fab something up.

    20220222_143043.jpg

One thing I didn't realize is, no hardware is included.

No worries, I've got an ACE here locally. A quick call to Sparco revealed that their hardware kit consists of M8 x 1.25 bolts, 16mm long. The pitch is important as that's what the seat bottom is threaded for. You can use whatever M8 nut and bolt combination for the base to the track/slider though.

If you opt for the base alone, you'll just need the 4 bolts. If you buy the base and track/slider, you'll need 8 bolts, 4 nuts, and 4 washers. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy a Sparco seat in the future.

    20220222_142902.jpg

Instructions aren't included, but it's not rocket science.

Best way to go about it is to adjust the seat track to expose the holes needed to thread your bolts in for your seat bottom. Do this for both the top and bottom bolts.

    20220222_152818.jpg

Once that's done, adjust the track/slider so it's near center. You'll need to do this as you actually have less travel with the base on than you do without. Don't worry, the adjustment is plenty it's just that the bottom bar collides with the base if you have the seat too far back.

    20220222_153642.jpg

Sparco really meant for this to be a factory replacement; '93-94 LC's have the seatbelt buckle mounted to the floor whereas '95 and up have the buckle mounted to the seat itself.

    20220222_153649.jpg

Let's not forget, the factory seat needs to be removed!

    20220222_154549.jpg

With that out of the way, it was time for the new seat to go in.

Holy shit does it look good!

    20220222_164058.jpg

    Initial thoughts?

The seat feels a bit firmer than my worn factory seat.

Here's what's crazy; I can drive around with my factory seat and shortly after develop a little bit of pain in my lower back. I've tried the lumbar, the side bolster adjustment, everything and no matter what I can only make it hurt slightly less.

The firmer Sparco left no pain at all. No sudden sharp pain after small adjustments, especially after getting up and out. I'm legitimately impressed.

If you're a bigger build, or have a bigger butt, you won't find these seats to fit well. Being a smaller build though, I feel this seat just hugs and holds me, very supportive actually. They feel better than the seats I've got in my Corvette even.

My only gripe is that the seat bottom is slightly taller than I thought it would be. That's fine as I'll learn to enter and exit just like my Corvettes.

Can't wait until this seat really breaks in and feels much better in the long run!

    Thanks!

I really owed it to my back to get a better seat. It was either that or buy new foam and reupholster the factory one. Took a chance and went aftermarket.

Damn, sounds like even though it's firmer it has better geometry if the comfort is that much better. Long term it will make a big difference, that's for sure.

    Looks great too :bananadance:

Good call man. Seats suck to buy but when they are in, its so worth it. Its like spending $1200 on a mattress. You use the damn thing everyday!

    Thank you!

It was between Sparco and Corbeau really. I think after having done even more digging and talking to others, Corbeau is more about customer service whereas Sparco is about a better quality seat.

    We're now twins though!

Maybe we can get @eon_blue to get one for him and his daughter

I still crack up that they make fun sized versions but it's pretty cool from an inclusive safety standpoint. Can wheel hard and not have to worry about the family

The money spent is greatly saved on personal comfort and health even if it hurts up front.

That's a big reason why I made the jump.

I had sciatica hit me some 2 years ago, and it was the worst pain I had felt in a long time.

I bought a new, quality mattress and it made all the difference. This ain't the nicest seat by any means, but it's kind of like replacing that old worn in mattress.

Waking up not feeling sore and tired makes a huge difference.

Well, school is 4 days a week and that's 40 miles per day.

Work is 5 days a week and that's 3 miles per day.

So only 175 miles per week unless I go off-roading or we go camping.

Not much really, and hoping it'd be less in the future once I take the wife gets a 2nd car so I can use her little suv for school and work :anonymous:

Hell yes! It looks so damn good, especially with the new console

But if it’s already looking like it’ll help your back out, then that’s even better. Back pain blows in general, but it’s a special sort of suck after a long drive in crappy seats!
