Yeah going down 180 I kept seeing the snow melt, then new snow, then the snow melt again wtf.

I haven't been out since the first week of Jan.

We're planning to meet up at Hollister Hills in a week and a half though.

I’m in north nj so snow is plentiful in the winter. Snow wheeling will prob be a 2-3 times a year thing though. Mud and muddy rocks is prob the main terrain.

The Toyos are awesome for a smooth ride and being quiet. And they do great off road.

Keep in mind, they like to be rotated at around 5k miles. You will start to hear them around that mark but they still aren't very loud. Do a rotation and they are quite again.

    You running those on your 4Runner are the reason why I added them to the list of tires I'd own;

Toyo Open Country IIIs, Cooper ST Maxx, or Falken Wildpeak A/T3W

Yeah, Toyo is still very overlooked by most people which is insane because they are such good tires. And very widely used in the racing world.

nice some tubes on the side will look gooood!

Edit: how were you able to buy just the middle section took a brief look and didn’t see that option for the 80 series? I’m assuming a phone call to coastal solved that.

Lol waiting patiently for +3 weeks and finally getting an invoice sent.

They have no number you can call, and their team is really small.

But don't take the long wait as a bad thing; out of courtesty I stuck with talking to one person there. He was pretty helpful and it was only because of the short email responses, that we had multiple emails back and forth. Best part is, even though the prices have gone up across the board, they charged me the old pricing (based on the age of my inquiry) as well as offered me a military discount.

Their site lists that their center section is available, just not listed as having its own part number. Just need to inquire via email.

Also, I had posted this in the LT but the second picture didn't have as much contrast.

    This was while on 35s

    20220121_131911_remastered.jpg

    And now on 33s

    20220310_130720.jpg

Based on looks alone I miss the 35s

But those tires needing replacing really. And keeping it stock height, 33s fill in real nice. Hoping those Dobinsons arrive soon already.

The used to have a phone number to call. Back when I did the bumpers on my 99 Tacoma. Guess it got to be too much to handle so they switched to email only.

Would've been a one and done deal if I was able to call.

I'm patient though, I'm not doing anything really for awhile anyway with the Land Cruiser.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out tuxedos :anonymous:

I wrote a post but it got lost before I submitted it... Pretty much everything in that size is gonna be a MT which will be acceptable but not great in the snow/wet roads but still manageable with 4wd.

I looked at 40s for a 17" rim and the 3 I'd pick are Nitto Trail Grapplers, Cooper MT, or Maxxis RAZR MT.

I liked the Trail Grapplers save for rain/snow. They weren't any better or worse than the KM2s, old pattern Cooper MT, Ironman MT, and others I've had :notsure: A couple buddies have run the new Cooper MT and they seem to do great on and off-road.

The RAZR looks like the same pattern as the Creepy Crawlers that I and a couple buddies have run and excel offroad here in CO. I assume the RAZR has a more durable compound to last longer than the Creepies or Treps, both of which are very soft for a DOT tire.

Thanks for all the info! I am gonna try to go w maxxis but the few places I’ve looked have been out of stock. Have to check around a little better this week.

Seen that thing - super nice - there's a shop in Monrovia near @eon_blue and they are into 80's with the owner running 39's I want to say.

    Awe shit!

I hear (and see really) that 80s are pretty easy to work on. The parts are just heavy as fuck compared to that of a compact pick up

Only thing I wouldn't want to tackle myself is a headgasket job. Seen a few threads on Mud and I'd probably want a savvy mechanic to do it.

Only days after paying, Coastal already shipped something out!

It says 1 of 2 boxes so we'll see what part it is. Pretty quick IMO cause apparently delivery is expected on Wednesday?
