No comparison! The 4R is high tech luxury and the Tacoma is a truck :D
The headunit is similar to the Ford Sync where nearly everything can be voice controlled. Smart key with programmable seating memory and push to start. Heated and ventilated seat. You can customize all kinds of things. You can split the HU screen in 3 sections so the nav can be displayed with phone info and radio all on the same screen. It also has ATRAC, so if it were set up similarly to my truck, I'm sure it would be just as capable (if not more) off road even with out a rear diff lock.

Nice! If this were for me, I would have the trail as well. But the wife wanted the leather, so she got what she wanted. We just really didn't need a sienna sport for only 3 of us.
Already went and tried it in the soft sand after I shot these. Did very well in 4HI and was just fine in super soft sand in 4LO with the ATRAC on

I noticed you said you had back surgery. Your suspension is WAY nicer than my spacer lift, but does it aggravate your back getting in to the truck/the ride quality?

I have a lot of back pain driving mine. (3'' spacer lift, 305/70/16)

I had two back surgeries! The ride is nice. We have crane rails that we have to drive over all the time at the shipyard, I don't even slow down for them
Freaking bushwackers rattle tho. I might have to figure out a way to get some bolts or zip ties to hold them tighter to the fender.
I'm also pretty tall so getting in and out is not a problem.

Forgot to post these here. Went camping again this past Saturday, same spot, but brought along my neighbor and his 2wd sequoia.

We had the whole upper campground to ourselves, and I'm so glad 1uzrnr and his wife made it out too. She drove ;)
Even saw a few meteorites that night from the geminid meteor shower.
But Sunday morning started to rain. Hard.
So my neighbor was understandably nervous since he had his two young children.

We only had to pull him up two steep muddy spots tho. He made it up some pretty steep rocky hills on his own. This first spot was a hill that a red 4x4 ford ranger had to turn around because he couldn't make it up. 1uzrnr offered to tow him up, but the driver declined. He probably thought we couldn't make it up either :D

Short boring video, but it shows how hard it was raining, and how much he was sliding around. I missed a few good ones where he got real sideways :D

I had a blast tho! My face was sore from smiling the whole way :D
As soon as we got to the pavement, I asked my wife if we can go back and do it again

I still haven't been on any of the real trails up there. Still waiting on sliders :(

Didn't install the rears yet
Gonna make a pedestal like the one they sell, and mount it to the flip kit plate, or make an adjustable threaded pedestal with a jam nut. Been planning for awhile, but haven't started yet. Gonna weld it onto the plate. They are on a shelf in my shop, so I keep forgetting it :D

I didn't even notice when I changed the fronts. I don't remember ever taking a real hard hit in the back. I know the bumps hit the strike plate because of the marks, but it doesn't seem overly harsh. I gotta get the rears on soon tho.

The pucker factor must have been really high in that Sequoia. Like your truck as well.

I just cut off the ends that are supposed to go under the u bolts, and had it turned 90 degrees and welded to the flip kit plate. Pics are in the super bumps thread. Once this is done, you can't access the nut in case you want to add spacers. So make your measurements first.

Amazing build bro! I am digging your tire size and choice.

One question i had was that how come you didn't go with ICON suspension? I am looking to go with icons and was wondering if you found something that made you change your mind or ruled them out. Also, I am planning on skids like you have and do you think I will need a heavier spring up front? Just trying to do some research before I pull the trigger. Thanks!

I read some things that said the ICONs were harder to rebuild and needed special tools or something. Don't know how true that is tho. I've been a fan of Fox shocks for a long time anyway. From my mountain bike and motorcycle racing days. Wasn't too familiar with the ICONs. I am curious about the digressive valving. I might give them a try down the road.
I think with just the skid plates, the standard #600 coils will be fine. It did ride nice with the extra weight too.

I just rebuilt my Icon RR 2.0 yesterday. Piece of cake no special tools required. Pretty sure the standard coil on Icon is 650# also.

I saw that in your build thread :)
How do you like the valving? I might try them when these wear out, or rust out. I have read that the fox shocks like to rust. Mine are all steel bodied...

I have nothing to compare my valving too so its tough to answer. But i love the front and the back needs so much work, not sure valving 2.0's on Dakar leafs will fix anything. I'm no expert either. But now that I've had them apart valving would be a piece of cake if I just knew how to take what I feel and then valve accordingly.

Very nice build. Definitely one of my favourite 2nd gen builds on TW. The mods and stance is spot on. Nice photography too.
