Replaced engine with gerbils for sustainability.
You've had that Softopper for a good while now, right? What do you think of it? Any trouble with the zippers, straps, buckles, seams, etc? How does it ride? Notice any more or less wind resistance with it as opposed to the open bed?

Nice Countersteers Offroads. I came close to buying those.

SOrry for the late reply! I love it! Still fine, no water leaks. Only complaint is the clips to strap the front and rear ends down are starting to rust. No other issues other than that and the windows need to be cleaned and polished, but that's my fault for not washing my truck regularly...

So I placed an order for a safari snorkel long ago through Benbacher who is awesome! But was on backorder forever! Not Bens fault at all, who seemed more upset about it than I did...
Finally came in a few days ago, but I've been so busy with the beads and fobs on instagram, I didn't have time to install.
Was running headed for work today, and by the time I finally got to the base, I realized I forgot my badge and my phone, so headed back home and called in sick :D
Wasn't bout to waste my day, so I tackled the install myself. Wasn't too bad at all. Easily a one man job ;)
There are plenty of install how tos, so I'll just leave a few tips.
I didn't remove the fender or the flare, and had no trouble. can still remove the inner fender without removing the fender flare. I didn't break any clips on this install.
Use an automatic center punch so you don't put massive dents in your fender, and use a step drill, or sheet metal drill for nice clean holes. Normal twist drills usually come out triangle shaped in sheet metal for some reason.
Hole saw worked fine at first, but by the time you get to the bottom of the valley, it gets a little grabby. I just drew in the rest of the curve and took my time with the dremel.
I don't have pics, but a large drum sander works well to clean up the hole.
Holes were quite a bit off from the template, so a bunch had to be elongated.
Came out great, and is very solid. I didn't drill the pillar, instead I just used a strip of 3m double sided automotive foam tape to keep the bracket in place and help stabilize the top.
Love it! I just topped off the tank, so we'll see if there is any improvement in MPG with the ram air effect.

Nice! Does Benbacher have the new designed ARB Safari snorkels that are made for the 2nd gens? Or is that the Airflow ones that he had earlier?

Edit: Nevermind I looked closely to your template and found my answer.

No snorkeling for me! I'm more of an urban commando kind of build. But, I do love cutting things :D Now I just have to learn to weld them together.

Oh yeah...of course the key word "beers" is the one thing that gets a response out of you!

Looks great on there man! So glad you finally got it! I will have those ARB ones for sale as soon as they come out. Looks like mid-summer right now. We have very different ideas of when summer is being in alaska, so we'll see haha!

I wanted to put some cutting oil on the hole saw... You know, machinists want to put cutting oil on everything! :D but I was worried about cleaning it off well enough for painting, so I decided to dry cut it.

Haven't done much to the truck lately, been pretty busy with the beads. So a pic of a few cool knives will have to suffice ;)
