Flexy flares going on the rear. Not the sexiest thing in the world... but not too bad. I need them to pass safety and recon :pout:still need to put on some mudflaps too...

You have a safety inspection every time to renew your tabs or why do you have to go through all of that?

Island problem. The other islands don't have a reconstruction inspection.

I have stainless bolts, washers and lock nuts from McMaster inbound. In the pic, they are just held on with spring clamps for mock up. I have tabs on the fenders for the flares, and I'll drill the bumper for the mudflaps.

Your brand new tires are louder than your exhaust. And I'd say it's definitely quieter than the Bosal Trd, which I don't think is even a straight through designed muffler.

Add a Maggie on there for some whine! :boink:

Finally getting around to the front fender flares... I did the same thing as the rear. Used my little template and cut tabs to mount the flexy flares, but since I need more tire coverage for the front, I bent them out this time.
    IMG_3151.jpg
I didn't want to tear up the rubber flares by drilling them, so I made a quick hole punch out of some steel.
    IMG_3152.jpg
Hardware from McMaster came in today too.
    IMG_3150.jpg
It looks kinda flimsy and the tabs would probably fatigue and eventually break off, but with the bushwacker flare backing it, it's pretty solid.
    IMG_3163.jpg
:puke:Fckin ruined! but it covers the tire and recon can't bitch about it. Gonna add some short mud flaps behind the front tires to keep rocks and crap off the body.

Oh and today was the first time I filled my tank in a year  I went to a gas station that has ethanol free gas and put in 89 octane and also some fuel injection cleaner. The truck has been running surprisingly well on that one year old gas tho...

I couldn't drill the forward-most hole in the fenders to bolt on the bushwackers. So I dropped the bumper. Also now I can access the hole behind the bumper so I can bomb inside the frame with Eastwood internal frame spray. I'm sure most of the paint inside the frame has been burned off by all the welding...

Both sides done! Looks legal!
    Almost ready for reconstruction inspection!

Here is some tips for chopping up the bushwackers.
I used a cheapy jig saw and mounted it in a cheap little clamping sawhorse work table thing. Works well, just have to hold the piece down while cutting.
    IMG_3204.jpg
    IMG_3206.jpg
And to clean up the edges, I bought a cheap oscillating drum sander off Amazon. If you keep the plastic moving it won't melt it and the rough drum takes it down pretty quickly.
    IMG_3207.jpg
Also, I made a punch for the flexy flares, but they are so thick, it wasn't working so well. But the pacer flexy flares are a hard enough durometer that it drills very nicely with a step drill.

Since I got the flares and mudflaps on, we took the truck to recycle some of the metal scrap, and then went to windward mall in Kaneohe. Cruised at 65mph... Didn't die.
    It rides pretty nice actually.
Gonna try and get a weight and alignment printout on Monday and see if I can get it through recon soon. But it still won't pass safety with the cracked windshield and broken spiral cable. Hopefully I'll have that taken care of soon too.
