The bumper took a backseat to house things this weekend. Finally got some landscaping in around the front of the house.

Now to rough up and reseed the front yard. And walk the damn dog on a leash until it comes up. He gets super stoked after he takes a shit and likes to kick dirt like a pissed off bull.

Fun fact: this bumper is going to be a pain in the ass.

It’s going to go kicking and screaming, but goddammit it’s going to go. Also, starting to wonder if lefty is going to make it to 2021....

Damn, man. Do you like pain? I mean, First the ground down thumb nail, then the cut in half bumper, and now the blister.

    Gee-wizz dude.

I'm not going to say I LIKE it, but it doesn't bother me too badly. Haha. I just really have a bad tendency to bull shit around and in place. Like most people would have set up some appropriate height jack stands or used a tranny jack to raise it into place, especially doing it by themselves. I decided I was man enough to lay on my back in the gravel driveway and raise it up on my knees/shins and 'rastle it into place to get some bolts started. I think it's my line of work. Always making field repairs in shitty conditions with not enough help and none of the right tools. I dunno, it works for me.

Well, it's in one piece. I think I can get it the rest of the way with a little heat. Unfortunately, the regulators and torch have gone MIA from work, so I had to get it to this point cold. Although I'm kind of glad I moved the bulk of the metal without heat, for strength. Conveniently the welding helmet that lives in our shop left with the torch. So nevermind the bubble gum, but I guess it didn't turn out too bad for eyes closed fluxcore. Now excuse me while I apply aloe to my face and potatoes to my eyes.

This area proved a giant pain in the ass to try to straighten. So many bends in every direction.

A BFH and some 48" attitude adjusters got me pretty close though.

Gorilla welding at it's finest. Fuck it, if I can use it as a jack point, it's strong enough for me.

I should have. I thought everything I needed was at my shop at work. Turns out most of it was riding around in the back of an employee's work truck. We will do things soon. Who knows what kind of wacky shit my cheap ass will get into.

Sup Rob? A couple more months and she'll have us almost completely trained. :p

Luckily nothing phases her. Even my dumb ass.

Awesome man. Dogs make life that much better. Don’t know what I’d do without this guy!

    image.jpg

I would like to add another to the pack. One I can use to hunt birds. Archie is a great hiking companion but his prey drive is too high to hunt with.

Wow! He's a handsome guy! Archie is a cool name too.

We're in the same boat almost. Not for hunting but for a companion for Phoenix, we'd like to add a boy toy. Maybe a little older. Calmer LOLOLOLOL. This morning she got airborne on her leash to try to get a squirrel. I'm glad she didn't see the deer too or her head might have exploded!

Today we gave her a second bath. She tolerates it. We tried some hemp oil this time. It helped a little. Definitely better than the first time. We're guessing since she was neglected by her first owner, that if they ever did bathe her the experience was horrible, but we're guessing nonexistent. So we try to make it as good as possible. The peanut butter lick pad we bought for this time was useless. But a couple small bath rugs in the tub so she was more stable, and a super long handheld shower hose were excellent tips/choices. She will walk for hours in the rain or snow, probably because she was left chained up outside in WVa where she's from so those things don't bother her. I know ultimately she'll get used to the shower. She'll have to come this summer because we're water people. We have a pool so.....

But you're absolutely correct, it's been an amazing experience for Deb and I so far. I mean besides helping to whip my fat ass into shape, she's helping me to be more calm. I'm not going to lie, not being able to sleep in on the weekend cold turkey like that was pretty sucky, especially if it's shitty weather, but the reason for it more than makes it worth while.

We've been dog lovers since forever so we took advantage of the pandemic working from home and aren't looking back!
