Finally, I bought a 6 Speed manual TRD Pro in Inferno Red (we believe this is the only one sold in Cali/West in this configuration so far). I will upload more pictures
tomorrow. But here are couple to start off with.

    Things I will change immediately:
    a) The 4x4 white lettering on mud flaps will be sanded out. I looked at prices for plain ones and they are quite expensive ($100 a pair for rubber flaps?? really?)
    b) I will re mount the tires: The “white lettering” has to go inside. $80…
    c) High temp paint on Exhaust: No chrome please, let’s black out everything.

    Questions:

Floor mats: I was looking up on weather tech website. They do not have any mats for 2015 Tacos. Is 2015 model any different from 2014? My limited time on 2014 model comparison tells me they are indeed the same…I could be wrong.

Hitch:mad:: The dealer was not able to add a hitch from the factory. They wanted three days to do it themselves. Needless to say, that did not work out. Any recommendation on brand of hitch and installation?

Tonneau covers:confused:: My Ford F 350 had a A.R.E tonneau cover(color matched hardtop) and I liked it. Except, it was a nuisance to take it off when needed. I however hope that the small bed cover for Taco is manageable. Anyone running hard tonneau cover on their DCSB? Any thoughts?

To all the hater of TRD PRO and price they cost :smack:: Please note, this truck is what I wanted. I have done the math on TRD off road truck build etc…it JUST DOES NOT work for ME. The cost comes out to be the same-minus color (again in my case)….Let us leave those discussions out. :deadhorse:

    The chase (boring story): :sadviolin:

Since TRD PRO was announced, I have been in touch with 3 local dealers. However, it was soon apparent that none of these dealers were willing to order a 6 speed manual for me even at a cost of forfeiting my deposit(Auto was fine). Fast forward, early summer: pricing for TRD PRO was announced. I revisited all the local dealers I have been in touch with, again, in hopes of someone willing to work with me. Well, 2 months passed and by this time, I was in touch with close to 30-35 dealers across USA (as far as Ohio).

The MOST interesting and rather disturbing note: Every dealer knew which dealer in USA was assigned a 6 Speed manual (DCSB, Inferno Red). Yet, they would not disclose it to me. Even a call to Toyota did not help me. After a lot of back and forth with one local dealer, one particular manager gave me two leads (yes, just two). These were the only two dealers that were assigned a 6-Speed, DCSB at that time. One was in Ohio and other was in SoCal. I contacted both within next 30 minutes. Since I’m in Cali, my first preference was SoCal( also the Ohio unit was loaded and has an MSRP of 40K) and luckily, SoCal just worked out.

I had prepared the SoCal dealer to give me a call the day the truck arrives. The Taco arrived on Wednesday midday and the dealer pre etc was done on Thursday. The dealer went a step further and never displayed the unit (on floor or outside). Instead, he made sure a “SOLD” sticker was pasted and the truck was parked in a covered garage. Infact when I went to pick up after the purchase, there was a small crowd of “other” sale reps and employees of dealership taking a look at it for the first time. I was stoked that they went so far to keep it untouched. It had 3 miles when landed and all dealer prep etc… when I picked up, it was @ 5 miles.
Couple of hours and a very slow 450 mile drive back, the truck is here. I stopped at two gas stations in between for break… THIS gets ATTENTION.:yay:

Congratulations on the chase and purchase of your awesome looking Pro. For the tonneau cover I got a Bak Flip Fiber Max and really like it and have not had to take it off to do anything so far. I also put the electric Pop-a-lock on teh tail gate so when the truck is locked so is the bed.

I predict most of these are picked up by collectors, and shoved away in barns across the US never to reemerge for 30 years on Barrett Jackson.
