Sometimes I wonder why vendors whenever they hear about forums or internet get the "I hate forums" and the "don't believe everything you hear on the internet" attitude. I'm not an idiot, I don't believe everything I read. I didn't decide I want some Duratracs or BFG AT's because of what "MotoMetal27" said. It's because in the AT class they constantly rate very high by thousands of users.

Do they not realize that it's the new way of advertising and has probably pushed business to them if they're any good? Sorry if you suck, but you suck. I get how you could fall quicker with the Internet instant communication but I also think you could rise faster, if you're good.

I use Les Schwab for tires, always have, recently I've questioned some of their product selection. They don't carry Goodyear because in their mind Goodyear makes an inferior product. Their only offering is their name brand stuff, and Toyo. No BFG, Goodyear .. Hankook .. They'll get them for you at a ridiculous up charge and then no warranty them at all.

They also gave me hell, at first, about installing my 5100's ... even after admitting they've never done it. They were all impressed with the end result. They kept pushing me to the spacer lift .... wtf man.

I feel like they hate the hand that feeds them .. is it only because they focus on the negative?

Sorry .. feel free to ignore my ramblings.

Just rambling OZ, since I picked up my toyota and joined TacomaWorld everytime I've had to get help to do a mod, installing shocks etc. The people I'm dealing with get irritated when I stick to my guns and ask for what I want.

They didn't stock the 5100's and tried to pressure me into buying what they had in stock. When I mentioned the site and how they get great reviews I got the, what has turned out to be typical:

"Ive been selling shocks for a long time and I've never heard of a shock that can lift the truck. It will fail. You should go with our shock and a spacer lift to level it out"

You're on TacomaWorld and should take the general TW advice: Order shocks from Downsouth Motorsports.

The local shop that assembled my shocks looked at me like I was speaking chinese when I told them about the parts(5100's+885's), and that I was getting lift from them. The big chains stock and push parts that make them money.

I'm surprised they even installed your 5100s.
The locations I've been to will only install what they sell.
Apologies to everyone for getting back on topic :)

I had to buy the shocks from them or they wouldn't. Luckily they didn't jack me on the price to much. It did take them a few hours to source the shocks tho..

The good thing is I get Les Schwab's warranty which has always been great to me.

Op you should look around for a decent 4x4 shop in your area. The one I go to is extremely helpful and go the extra mile when it comes to getting me parts they don't stock and things of that nature.

"I generally ignore whatever the people at the parts department tell me,
because fixing cars pays a lot better than selling car parts, So if they knew what they were talking about, wouldn't they be doing that?"

Thought it was an interesting train of thought.
