If I lock my payment in now, then I can benefit from the coming inflation. I am sure there is some finicial argument to made there. Lol

It's amazing!!!! How can they do this? Lower monthly payment than the old one and they only added 36 more payments?!? What a deal!

    sadly thats the reality.

In this market you should adjust your expectations, Selling high but buying for higher

The dealer is sticking with MSRP, so not getting bent over on price, but not getting any sort of incentive aside from the $500 off for being a "veteran" (apparently the reserves count). But used cars are up more than 30% while new cars are not even up 10%. I figure that disparity can't last forever. Besides I wanted a TRD.

Sounds like good reasoning re the used vs new percentages you posted, plus not paying over MSRP. Hey, you're in a position to do it and it makes you happy..Doowhutchyalike

Cant go wrong with an OR, but this is your 2nd time buying a Taco in 2 years, so let's hope it's the right one this time...

P.S. Hope you dont consider a Sport, or you'll be stuck with a glorified SR5

It's only a bad deal if you're not happy with it.

Screw what other people think, it's not their money you spent.

I'm not a fan of him either, I think his methods are a bit radical.

Don't spend any money on yourself, your kids, your wife, your gf, don't buy a new car or enjoy life, save it all up so you can take the money to the grave? I mean whats the fucking point? You gotta find that balance.

Don't get me wrong, im pretty frugal, but we still enjoy life, I have our retirement all planned out for 55 years old, but I still buy what we want and travel a few times a year. His methods are a bit more extreme than "common sense" and i just never got on board with them. We have friends who cancelled all their credit cards, only carry cash, and never go out to eat or travel, no trips, basically just stash all their money in a 0.0005% savings.

Basically what im saying is most avid DR followers don't take the common sense approach for whats reasonable, they take it to the extreme and live well below their means that they forget to enjoy whats in front of them

agreed, i liken them to the type of people that speed up once they pass the posted speed limit sign. no common sense

Last 5 words. Seeing it now with my uncle who is at the point of not being able to live alone, he was very miserly (to extremes, ask if you want examples) and now it's probably going to see all his savings eaten up in no time by an assisted living etc.

This does make sense as you put it.

Never really dug into Ramsey's methods. I do agree in a perfect world it's wiser to not have a car payment but that's not always possible. I avoided it until I was 33..and always said if I ever have a car loan I'll keep the vehicle at least double the life of it. I didn't do that on my first one, traded in less than a year after payoff but it was falling apart and I found the perfect vehicle which I still have.

The thought of spending on tangible versus fun while it lasts I guess..I'm a concert junkie and could of course live without that.

I am going on 3 years with it. Admittedly it was my first truck and I had no idea how much fun venturing off pavement would be or how often I would do it so an OR has been on my wish list for awhile, or at least a rear locker.

Basic good financial advice. The save your money part is starting to make less sense because we all still think deflation is a dirty word.
