My coilovers are FOX! Just the spring rate is too low. Kevin has had the same issue with his Fox coilovers, he has his preloaded as hell also. Or, has he gotten new ones by now?

That would be great to have that little of preload. I think the stock springs are 620? Still waiting on a response from Skyjacker, all of them are at Moab for the Heep Safari so I dont expect anything this week.

I dont have any worries about switching them, I'm just waiting on some sort of contact with my old Rep. I want to try to snag a pair of these at minimal cost. Do you remember how much Hodge's new springs were from DSM?

    Fox 2.5" Coilovers come with a 13" L x 3" ID @ 600lb supplied by Eibach.

Silverback who you used to be on here crammed a 16" 650lb coil onto his 2.0's. I'm going to a King 14x3 650lb coil. King also has a 700lb coil in 14" Eibach only goes to 600lb in 14" but I think 700lb in the 16".

They only thing you want to be aware of is compressed block height of the spring, so you don't get coil binding. Fox states they went with 13" to eliminate binding, but didn't say what other springs they tested.

Mine are the same as Fox 2.0 Emulsion coilovers. Any how I would bet the 2.0's come with the same spring rate? So what I need to get is 14" 700# to handle the weight I believe.

Edit: with the spring preloaded as much as it is right now I have terrible binding. Dont see how it could get worse with taller springs that are not preloaded near as much with the 700 rate.

PM'd you a couple contacts at Fox if you need more info. Carlos is the engineer who did the R&D on the Tacoma stuff, and Travis is another guy there who deals with tech questions.

Np...yeah, silverback had 2.0's and went 16" 650lb they make 'em up to a 750lb, at least Eibach does. FWIW his truck is armored/winch/and pretty loaded out.

Yeah he was pretty helpful, an his build inspired some of mine for sure.

Let me know what you do on your coils. I'm hoping to get mine sorted soon.

Got an email from fox saying Sway-a-Way makes 13" coils for 2.0 and 2.5 coilovers in 650lbs. Might help you if you don't want to go longer.

Sick! Great build man!!!! Well done - just an opinion, but I think you could do without the 4'' PIAAs on the front, your 6'' are PLENTY - front grille/bumper looks a little too crowded.... too much 'Gucci Gear' (that's the term I use when it appears you've got too much focus on aesthetics over functionality... but overall man like I said your Tacoma looks great.

I agree 100%. The front has changed drastically over the last 6 months. Function over form is a must.

Nitto Terra Grapplers for the last two sets of tires. They are great but I'll be looking for something a little more aggressive next time.

Marco at DSM has helped me find that the springs that come with the Skyjacker Platinum Coilovers are Eibach, 14.75" free length and 675lbs spring rate.

Skyjacker says it is not recommended to change their setup and that it was designed specifically for the Tacoma. I bet their test vehicle did not have 300lbs worth of bumper/winch and 150+lbs of skid plates...

When I get the new springs I'll update with what happens. New springs will be 16" free length and 750lbs rate.
