I got the brake problem figured out last night on "Old Red". The booster rod that goes into the master cylinder was to long, it didnt let the MC fully rest causing brakes to grab/heat up/lock up. I adjusted it back an 1/8th inch and so far it's been working great. Making progress.....:woot:

and now moving on to rebuilding the front axle (as soon as Marlin get the knuckle kit in stock.....:(

Went ahead and got the knuckle rebuild kit and new front bearings and seals from AP. I hope to start on the tear down next week. Also got the 54mm socket from east coast gear supply the guy I talked to there, (chase) is a great guy, I will go back to them for 4.88's and lockers when the time comes.

Did you get the tach straightened out?

not at all, I took everything apart and atleast I found that the tach was in there from the factory so the mileage is correct. I did not have a volt meter or anything like it to check out the wiring, but something leads me to believe that the problem may be in the electronic tach itself......

I did set the idle up a little though, she runs like a kitten now. And I'll be honest I'm a bit nervous about digging into the front axle rebuild. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but this will be the biggest job I have ever tried to tackle. Oh and also found that my clutch MC is leaking inside my cab so that will be changed asap also....

Did you figure out where the wire went (for the tach)?

the stock wires for the tach are (+) = black in pin 6 on plug A, (-) = green with hash on plug b ( i forget which pin number location). The wires go off and bury themselves in the wrapped harness back behind everything so its very hard to tell without ripping it all apart. I just didnt have time to do that but maybe will at a later point. I think they originate themselves at the ignitor, in the larger green barrel plug on the ignitor side of the little green test plug that we read everyone gets the signal from for a cluster swap.

I am not sure that it is a test plug. According to the FSM it is supposed to be hooked up to on of the barrels.

I see what you are saying. I misunderstood you.

    Page BE-24

Wires number A-5-1 or A-6-2 end up at the ignition coin

The B with the hash is the ground.

no, it is the 1985 FSM I got it from Marlin Crawler forum. It's got an efi section and a carb section, MT and Auto section, manual hub and auto hub section.....etc....
