The Dashtop Multi Mount - 4G taco edition.

There is so much stuff I want to talk about related to the idea, prototyping development, features and final production of this mount. It’s too much and too unnecessary so I’ll save it for a different time/post.
For now, here are some pictures, and some facts.

First production batch is already made and waiting for ALL BLACK anodize.
A Pre-production batch will be available at the same time. That batch will have a slightly modified center plate with small, cosmetic imperfection but no functional difference.

I am not taking any payments or pre orders until I have the parts ready to ship out which should be in about 2 weeks, HOWEVER, I want to try to start a list of people who are interested so that I know if I have to make more right away or not because these are not cheap to make.

So, if you think you want in on this first batch, just reply and let me know which batch you'd be interested in and I will add you to the list. Regular price at the initial low volume will be $250, I know its high, I am hoping I can lower that after production ramps up.

Looks like a very well made piece..what colors are they being done in. I would be interested in a pre-production piece if it is for the 14 inch screen

 

I'm assuming you're using the screen bolt in points to hold everything on? I've been waiting for someone to make something like this since I saw the trim get removed.

Any chance of a more basic rail type system in the future?

 

As of now, this will only be made in a black finish. And yes this is going to work for the 14” screen.

 

yes it bolts into the 4 screen bolts, right now I don’t have plans for a more basic system. What I might do, is sell the center piece alone, but I REALLY, don’t think that is as useful. Having those ball mounts on the side of the screen really makes a difference

 

Makes sense, are the holes AMPS patterned in the plates? I just already have a nice phone holder with a carbon fiber arm with a ball mount.

 

you should still be able to use the holder and arm with out mount, I am personally now a fan of the standard, not because of anything inherently bad about it, but rather because it tends to be on the bulkier side of the spectrum. Starting with out 3rd gen taco DMM the idea was always to make things as unobtrusive and low profile as possible.
The amps pattern and bases did not fit into that philosophy. We do use the 1” (25mm) ball standard though, so any other accessories that you have should be compatible if they too use that standard.

 

Look well designed.
How much clearance is there between the ball mount and screen to accommodate ram mount arms? It looks quite tight to allow for much articulation of an arm although hard know from the photo.

I would like a production piece. Are the balls black for the production model? In the pictures thery are different colors.

It looks like the clearance for the ball mount is pretty tight (close to the edge of the screen)? It could be the angle of the photos.

 

you are right, it is close from what i can tell. Not sure if my attachment will fit. Im very interested though if there is more space
