Good work dude! I bet it feels way better now. Is reverse any more difficult to get into?

Yeah it's great man! I love this mod. It feels so racetruck. Reverse isn't too bad actually. A tad stiffer than before but not bad at all. That's what she said

Yea man, such a good build you got going here..... I saw your dyno charts and the comparison between your setup and URD’ kit. So many questions I’d want to ask but I can start with this one.....

you’ve done a bunch of different things like water/meth... camshafts.... the works on the exhaust......... throttle body and intake...........

Of all these mods what do you think is the best bang for buck? Does something win out over anything else? Anything someone starting out should be doing first before anything else?.....

also do you have any tips for getting a kind of high mileage engine ready for some forced induction? Things to check for? I assume compression and leak down are a good place to start.......

that’s a very intimate view of the inside of a supercharger. Like it’s so intimate it should be ban-worthy

I'm so glad you f***ing asked.

Seriously though, your biggest bang for buck (aside from smaller pulleys, see below) is actually the supercharger itself. It gives you the largest step change, while everything else, like the stuff you mentioned, is going to build on that.

More mods than that you are going to need a fuel pump upgrade, just to warn you. URD still makes a kit for that, which is what I went with 10 years ago and it's still doing it's thing.

If you go beyond just a supercharger kit, smaller pulleys are giving you the next biggest step changes for, really, the best bang for buck you can get (a couple hundred for a smaller pulley for 15% more gains - and then even more as you add more mods after that).

After the supercharger and smaller pulleys, opening up the airflow with headers, Y-pipe, exhaust, and intake (URD's TCAI is recommended) again gets you pretty good bang and go-fast considering the price.

Some also say that good spark plugs make a noticeable difference, especially the ruthenium ones that NGK makes.

On the flipside, the camshafts I installed are expensive, and have a relatively large cost-to-gains ratio.

I installed water/meth injection more as a safety thing because I see 16psi boost, but the power definitely surges once it starts spraying so it's doing a little bit for my torque and the systems aren't that expensive.

Also the tune becomes the most important part once you start adding mods, so you get the most out of your system and all the money you put into it. People these days are going with HP Tuners and @JustDSM offers some sweet tuning services with that software. I would bet, and he could confirm, that a tune alone on an unmodified supercharger could result in as much as 10% gains.

    -----------------------

Getting motor ready... I think you're right on the compression and leak down, there could be other stuff though that I'm not versed in, you could do a search or query the guys on the supercharger thread:

    Pretty comprehensive, thanks

So I guess buy the supercharger and fuel pump and start building from there...... I imagine like any car project the last 20% of the gains take 80% of the moneys

16psi is kind of a lot lol

Since you're in Edm I might have to head down there and talk with you about truck mods sometime......... AFter coronavirus is over or something lol

Hahaha nice to see another Edmonton, you guys got a little communiyt started down there??

Well I've been fixing up the Polar bear so he can be a better daily, upgraded the suspension and did lots of maintenance, and got some underglow and a premium fuel tune while I was at it ..... because why not lol

Also got the sled dog team just for some fun romping but it needs a bit of work, should be ready for next Winter though.....

Lol I like the clickbait in your signature.........

Having you come down to discuss truck stuff would be awesome. If you can't bring the truck, the polar bear should get you here just fine :D

My parents have some neighbors who are from Yellowknife, I hear the virus restrictions are pretty extensive for travel. So probably won't happen until after all that is over, I assume, unless you have a way to isolate for 14 days when you return home...

Got a pair of these pneumatic hood props for the price of one large Tim's Double Double (Canadian backyard mechanic's currency) from a guy who's selling his truck. Now the stock prop won't be in the way of my engine bay pictures.

My friend said he got these ones through work, they're actually a universal kit. They didn't fit perfectly, although more than good enough. I think there's a company posting on here who makes them specific to the truck. Redline tuning I think they're called? Something that starts with "R". Edit: here it is. www.redlinetuning.com

Yeah @SnozzCumber it looks like a pretty good option to me. They were having a group buy recently. Can't find that post though. Maybe your search skills are better than mine.

On a scale of 1-10 how hard will I want to bang my head against a wall installing the solid engine mounts with the urd headers? Do headers need removing or steering shaft split?
