Not bad at all. Assuming he only needs another 10k to get the truck driving right, he'll have a badass 3rd gen, with a cool story for a little under 30k. Also, if he's making anything on youtube, that's a decent little bonus as well.

He sounds decently knowledgeable from listening to the video, I think a lot of people in this thread are underestimating this guy.

Agreed. Looking though the comments section will also tell you he's on top of it.
He said he was going to tear down the old engine. Heck he might be able to rebuild that and sell it too.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Hell, he’s got some money in just the accessories on the old motor, and scrap metal.

He had to tweak it but it let out a "Roar" once it got going.

Hi, just here to say that wheeling a 3rd gen manual is actually pretty easy on your clutch, unless you're bound and determined to not use 4L, and as anyone else who has actually tried wheeling a 3G will agree- you give up pretty fast cause the truck just has no bottom end. In 4L 1st gear you kind of have to try to stall.

Its the culture of this forum unfortunately. People are too quick to pounce on someone. Looking at his other YT videos, he is no stranger to off-roading and is a pretty knowledgeable capable individual.

Pretty much the same model I'm driving (minus the abuse). Glad to see it get rescued.
Wait, were those used Q-tips? That’s just nasty.

He just posted a third video showing the new engine getting installed. Gotta say, I'm hooked on this project. I hope it goes well for him.

I also stand corrected on the supercharger causing the noise. I’m interested to see what he finds was the issue when he does the engine tear down. Sounds good with the new engine.

this guy is making out like a bandit. He will have a supercharged taco with a like new engine and lots of decent mods for probably less than 25k all said and done. I’m jealous. Even totaled Tacomas with rollover damage in my area are more expensive than the 13k he paid for this unit.

also seeing how easy that engine goes in and comes out makes me feel better about the inevitable future of my supercharged engine.

Nice to see a couple of Coasties getting it done.

The did end up costing themselves some extra cash be breaking the windshield though. It was fine in the original video, but pretty badly cracked now. I’m guessing it got tapped during the engine install.

This is a great! Hopefully he keeps the videos coming. I would much rather watch this than some “check out these hidden features on the 3rd gen” that YouTube seems to be littered with. That or the, watch me bolt the same part to my Tacoma that 50 other YouTubers have done.
