I'll have to try and dig it up but when I was up in Calgary for work yesterday I read a really good newspaper article that broke down the value of currency versus the state of the economy. If you actually look at Canadian productivity and job numbers things are no where near as bad as most of the media has been saying. Not as bad as things are in Europe, the USA, or China. They came to the same conclusion that our dollar is in the dumps right now because of it's perceived lack of security, rather than it's actual value, and while 65 cents is possible next year the lower it goes the harder the rebound could be against so called safe currencies if any of those markets should continue to falter.

Well, I guess a set of SCS wheels is not in my immediate future...

I was able to pull the trigger on some FN wheels from Cochrane Toyota at ~$200 CAD a rim. They had some minor cosmetic blemishes that I couldn't even see when I picked them up nor can I find them on the wheels now that they are on the truck. They regularly have very nice rims around that $250/rim price point. It might not be SCS but they might have something similar that you might like for much cheaper than US imports.

I thought about it and almost bought a set of FN Five Stars from them but when I got close to placing the order I got that sense in my gut that buyer's remorse was imminent. I decided to hold out for SCS F5's instead. It's not urgent and I like the warm fuzzy feeling I get when there's money in my "rainy day" account.

Mind if I ask why you are going SCS over FN? Just the look or something else?

Yup, mostly colour. I like the darker bronze that SCS offers. My next big driver in wheel choice was weight and the Five Star's and F5's comparable on that spec. I'm sure I would have been happy with the Five Star's but I just wasn't quite convinced about the colour.

If I was local to them and able to find a deal like you did I would have snapped them up.

That's perfectly fair. I was wondering if you knew something that was going to make me regret my wheels lol. I went with FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro. It was more out of need, I bent a stock rim, than wanting and waiting but I'm super happy with them. They are a knockoff of the TRD wheel look but with better backspacing and width.

How about that dollar right now. For being in free fall according to economists only a couple of weeks ago it's holding nicely at almost 72 cents. Of course I bought a bumper at 71 cents in a panic

Up to this point I've had my investments spread across a couple of mutual funds, a variable growth managed plan, and currency markets. I made at least 10 percent for a while there. I think I'll go the same direction again.
