I’m waiting for a call back from the guy who’ve I’ve been dealing with. He’s been great. Only thing is that it’s showing out of stock on their website.

That sucks. I hope it works out. That’s seems like a pretty tight timeline for Camping World; maybe they’ll have a loaner or something? Idk.

Yeah me neither. It’s not a fault of Dometics customer service they’ve been good to deal with so far so I have hopes something can be worked out.

Ah drat, nevermind then. I know Mobtown has a few 55IM sitting there ready to ship. Was going to offer that as a solution if dometic would let you return it.

Thanks Randy. You’re a good dude and I appreciate that. I’m not overly worried. There are worse things in life. If we need to use ice on our trip like last year, we’ll survive.

Still no call back from my Contact at Dometic.

Today I ran the unit again, this time from it's intended location in the bed of my truck, plugged into the 12v socket I installed using 10 gauge wire tied directly into my aux fuse panel under the hood. I took voltage readings directly from the battery, the display on the unit itself, and also the 12v socket I ran also has a voltage readout so I took note of that as well. I had the larger section set to 37* and the smaller section to 0*. The ambient temp today was high, going above 90* at the hottest part of the day. I had the battery protection setting set to medium, and both sections were empty.

Here is all the data I have. Does anything think this is typical behavior from their CFX3s? I am not so much concerned with the amount of the time the unit ran for (~7 hours) since the unit was completely empty and I understand how being full limits energy consumption, as I am concerned with the fact that the unit is not bringing the battery down to it's supposed cutoff point of 11.2v on the medium battery protection setting. Also, I find it very odd that between 4:30 and the time the unit shut itself off at ~6:40 the unit's display was a constant 11.8 and even went down to 11.7. Why did the unit run for over 2 hours at the same voltage before ultimately entering protection mode without going any lower?

What is the voltage at the fridge? I ran 2AWG to the bed and still have about 0.2v drop.

The column I called display voltage is the voltage readout on the screen of the unit.

Maybe you should double check the voltage at your bed socket.

I couldn't fit the prongs of my multi-meter into the socket itself, but I did check the other end of the wire that plugs into the back of the CFX3 (not the 12v socket side, the side that goes into the unit), and it read 11.8v, the battery also read 11.8v, and the readout on the Blue Seas panel read 11.78v. So voltage isn't the issue. Maybe not enough amps? I don't know.

I turned the battery protection setting to low, and I'm going to let it run overnight and see if it cuts out at the intended 10.1v, or if it also cuts out prematurely. I guess, if it gets close to 11.2 before cutting out, and my truck still starts easily I suppose I could keep it on the low setting? For reference I always carry a Noco Boost if I was ever remote and alone with a dead battery. Just thinking out loud.

Maybe I’m wrong but at 11.8v an AGM battery is pretty much completely discharged.

I went out to my truck to try and prove a point but unfortunately my voltage is too high. Drat.

But is your fridge running? What makes low too low if the truck will still consistently start?

No my fridge wasn’t on. I just thought my resting voltage was lower, like 12.1. I just wanted to say joe was wrong in thinking 11.8 is discharged

I don’t know my typical resting voltage but it’s probably safe to say it’s higher than 11.8v. But I don’t think that makes 11.8 too low.

Yeah. I’m going camping this weekend and will have my fridge so if I remember I’ll take mental notes of my voltage. I have the app too
