I have read a thread about it but it does not really mention what are the signs of 2nd generation tacoma ecu failing.

Mine just takes 0.025 seconds longer now to start the vehicle. Is this what it is?

Please tell me im just becoming paranoid

Or let me know some other signs to watch for a "failing ecu"

There are so many variables when it comes to starting. Battery condition, cable condition, connection condition, starter condition, ect. Start simple/cheap and work your way from there. I was having hard starts and it was just corroded battery terminals.

Also, 0.025 seconds is a quarter of 10th of a second. I don't think its humanly possible to detect something like that. If you can, I think you need to inquire for a job as a human stop watch.
